i was talking to "onasled" about how he removed his top with the sunroof, and replaced with a non-sunroof top.

anyone wanna trade LOL

i doubt anyone will, has anyone welded it a filler plate in place of the whole sunroof? dont they make CF fillers for it?

You apparently haven't seen his stereo thread. That is not a 'trade in' car.

contact George at MINI Madness. I seem to remember his S has a CF panel that covered the hole in his roof.

I did not understand your goals. I thought it was about sun light, the reason I don't have a sun roof, you could cover it with vinyl.

If the reason is because your wall will POP the glass of the track, maybe just maybe you could lower the volume

Thanks for the heads up, I should do more research before posting

it was about sunlight at first, and i actually have vinyl for that reason i just havent put on yet, but its mainly about the pressure my bass will produce.

It's a race car. Fit and finish was as about as high a priority as his stereo system.
RandyBMC, you can also find him at www.webbmotorsports.com, but beware that he's piloting these days, so it could be a while. That, and he's selling that car, so he may try to get to you buy it.

this thread caught my attention as I was bothered by glare from the sunroof so I fashioned a fix for this. I am trying to get this manufactured as a product but have been unable so far. I have contacted most of the larger MINI aftermarket companies but no success. I see there is a Vendor or two on this thread......any interest in a product that would give you exclusivity as there is no product like this available currently?

My product idea is a permanatly attached roll-up OPAQUE shade that when pulled across rendors the sunroof opaque, but when rolled up it is vrtually not noticable and does not interfere with using the stock mesh shade or the glass as normal. my prototype has been in place for well over a year and works well. Does anyone have a suggestion as to finding a manufacturer for this?

thanks

Sport Compact Magazine had an article on removing the sunroof and replacing with CF, sunroof total weighed 59lbs heavy. I think they mention the spot that made the CF piece. Here is the article:http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/pr...r_s/index.html

If it's all about the SPL, then I'd be more worried about the frameless windows. You're going to leak more pressure there long before the sunroof. Back probably 15 years now I had an 86 CRX that I had a similar setup (although very clean and stealthy) You could see the windows flexing out when the bass hit. You're going to run up on the same problem long before your sunroof starts to warble.

The body shop here that does work for both local MINI dealers quoted me a price of 1000.00 to replace the entire roof and paint it. They tend to be on the high side, so you may be able to get it done cheaper somewhere else.

I don't know why you don't do the math and cut a second port in the roof for yet another resonant frequency..... if your "box" is flexing your loosing all kinds of energy to unwanted harmonics....... have you thought of some asymetrical planes to cut down +/- additions and cancellations..... bring this ride to the 21st century
