Some new rear badging...

Added an enamel flag bar under the Cooper S badge and a R52 badge (from Outmotoring) to balance it out. Also blacked out the rear fog lamp with a coating of blackout spray - it's still pretty bright...

I just ordered it online from the cheapest place I could find - I think it cost me $8 or so. One can lasts FOREVER. I wouldn't recommend it for the actual tails (the Lamin-X stuff is what I used there) but for the side markers and other small things it's great.

I used "Night Shades" spray tint on my side repeaters and it came out looking like crap. Not sure what I did wrong, but I had to buy new ones and just vinyl wrap them like before.
Looking good. Now what do you have in store for lighting!?!

Did you use the Night Shades (that's what I use) on JUST the repeater lens or on the chrome as well? It's not intended for chrome, so I can see why it would look bad there, yeah. On the actual dome lenses. however, mine turned out great - you just have to work slow with the Night Shades as it's thin stuff and best applied in gradual layers - thick coatings will simply run all over.

As for lighting... It's on order, that's all I'll say for now. You know me though - lots of pictures will be forthcoming.

Yep, Outmotoring, but I've seen the individual letters elsewhere - the nice thing about the Outmotoring ones is that he has them pre-packaged - just tell him what year and model you have and he sends you the right one.

I am going to be perfectly honest here. I think it seems a bit busy, but i am not quite as used to looking at the cabrio so it could just be me. I think the license plate frame is what is probably doing for me.

Random question: What year is that suburban? My family used to own a GMC in that same color, was a sweet ride.

Where is the rear window sticker from and is it on with adhesive or simply contact? I have my rear fog and tails also darkened, but I also had the brake bar darkened too; all were done with darkening vinyl.

I gotta make sure you NEVER see the butt of my cabrio...

Cause Dawn looks positively PLAIN in comparison...

And I'm not saying that Blimey's butt is NOT busy... if it was any busier, it would buzz.

Love how Dawn is looking, Matt.

The Suburban is a 1999... Great car.

The plate frame is going away, yeah... it's never been my favorite. I've just been too busy to get a proper replacement.

Looks very nice, Matt !

Just a warning on the AmericanMiniMates 3-flag badge. I've had two of them under my side repeaters for about 10 months and the paint is fading on them. Appears they are a Replace-Every-Year-Or-So item.

Not a biggie because they are inexpensive and easy to R&R (remove and replace).

Yeah - I have some of the "other" UJ/Checkered combo enamel badges - and they did the same thing after a year. I replaced them with chrome Dragon MINI wings - for now...

No pics of the dragon wings? I think any time anyone mentioned some visual modification of their mini they should either post a pic or a link to a previous post with the pic.

Doug From American Mini Mates here. There was a qc problem with some of our 3 flags badges, we replace any badges you have a problem with at no charge. All we want it the "bad" badges back so we can study them to track down the problem. We can solve this problem together.

Hey, Doug. I like the badges so much, I'd glady pay for another set. But that's great customer service, the way you're standing behind your product.

I'd gladly ship my pair of badges back to you. But I can pretty much describe the fading to you. It's mostly on the third of the badge that is the checkered flag. About 1/4th of the black checks are no longer black...they are faded and/or worn down to the shiny finish.

In my case, the car is garaged all but about 50 hours per week so it may be more a case of the paint being worn off due to washing than UV-faded (especially since I'm a member of the OCDetailing club and wash my MINIs about once per week and QD them several times per week).
