Interior/Exterior 35% Tints and night vision. Real World Feedback Appreciated
#1
Read all the threads, but how badly does it degrade your night vison? (I know you look out the windscreen!) And the tint aids in reducing headlight glare, but I am concerned I will miss something while motoring at night.
Antsmini said that 50% does not look like a tint (I agree), so I guess it is 35%. (20 is real cool...but don't want to be hasseled)
And the 35% rear windows, 50% fronts (NYS it's all illegal!) does not appeal to me, unless someone has done it and it looks cool.
Appreciate any insight and experience out there. Thank you!

35% on side two windows and 25% on rear three windows. No vision problems while motoring. In a parking lot, the view is slightly diminished at nighttime, but while out motoring at night, there's really not that much difference. There's nothing to worry about mate, unless you already have poor night vision.

If you really want to answer your question, go by a tint shop and beg off a scrap piece of 35% tint. Just tape it to the inside of your side window so you can look through it cruising around. You'll be able to get a pretty fair idea how much your vision is impaired by it.
I've got the back three done to 35% and at night you can't see crap out of the windows unless there's some bright lights outside. You may see on coming headlights but on a darker street you'll never see the kid on the bicycle with no lights until you go "bump"!

Anything darker than 35% and you'll have trouble at night, at least when you want to go in reverse. Mine are 35% all around (not the windshield of course). I have not noticed much difference in night visibility and I have to parallel park every night. The tints make a huge difference in side sunglare and keep the car much cooler in these summer temps. They look fantastic as well.

I've got the 5% REAR 3 AND 25% Fronts.... It's DARK but NICE
If I park in the sun... the temp inside is at least HALF of what it would be without tint.
Add the reflective windshield sunguard and it's totally enterable, and the whalen **** is NOT hot!
The tint should also protect against UV's.
As far as Night Driving... It's easier on the eyes...and no one can see you.

I also think the same tint all around looks better but that's just my own opinion :
>>
glad someone said that, its been my opinion all along, that same tint looks WAAAY better
my lexus has 35% all around, great day/night vision
my mini has 20% all around, great night vision, no problems at night, then again maybe i am used to it, and have overall good vision
i also think with white roof 35% is fine, with black roof 35% looks great, but 20% looks better. all this is just MY opinion

I must be the only one here with two 50% front windows and 35% three rear windows. I think it looks cool. I will try to take some pics to post, but it will probably be over the weekend. I can see fine at night. the 35% works ok in terms of vision: it both reduces headlight glare (not much of an issue for me since I have the auto dim mirror) and reduces visibility of headlights way far away behind you, but that's not much of an issue. I just never liked really dark tints on the front windows for some reason. I like it bright up front. On my old Suby Outback I had 35% rear and no tint up front. I was halway considering that for the MINI, and would prolly have been happy with that too. 50% is max up front for me.
