Interior/Exterior replacing the boots
replacing the boots
i just ordered a set of both boots from RedLineGoods.com and am extremely happy to have them after 10 days of them in the mail, but i finally got them today!
question...has anyone removed the e brake boot and replaced it on the R56? do you have a DIY and/or photos of how to do it. and for the shifter...how do i take the **** off without having to re-buy that piece that secures the **** to the boot?

will do - i spoke to redline via email - they said if there are slits in the stock boot, cut slits in the new custom boot - so that is the last resort for replacing the shifter and as for the ebrake i have no idea where to begin....ha
ill keep you posted with pictures and whatnot if i can figure it out

I've been playing with the ebrake boot as part of making wooden ebrake handles. I don' have a fool-proof method yet, but I have a theory. I ended up breaking some tabs off of the base of the ebrake boot, so I've ordered another to test my theory.
The base has two rather large tabs in the middle of the sides. My theory is to use something like a putty knife or paint scraper (shouldn't have a sharp edge) to push the tab down and in towards the brake handle.
If you don't need to salvage the plastic that holds the base of the boot, you can just pry it with a screwdriver. That's how I broke the tabs. However, I'm not sure the tabs are functionally necessary to keep the piece in place. The smaller tabs on the base seem to be enough, YMMV.
I haven't removed the shift boot yet. I'd like to hear detailed instructions on that. I read that you just reach in and pull it up, but that doesn't work for me.

Did they come with the plastic bases? That would make things easier. Then trashing the original wouldn't be a problem.
I've ordered some ostrich textured cow leather and Redline said they could use it to make boots for me.
Wonder if it was a better mechanism than the stock lid to keep it closed...

you can just pm them for the price, i don't really know how much each they cost.
i got the shift boot and e-brake boot for the r56 but am still trying to figure it out - my car is in for service right now actually....stupid clutch burnt out on me after 2800 miles...im pretty upset about it..but the dealer was really cool and said he would get on it asap..
they dont come with any plastic peices for the shift boot, so be really careful with yours when you take them off...i scratched mine up a bit already trying to get them off. the trick it seems is that the shift boot from the factory has slits cut into it - which im very very hesitant to do after spending the $ and waiting the time for shipping and whatnot...so im just gonna have to be REALLY careful when trying to do it but ill see...
and the arm rest cover looks fantastic youyudelan!

Below are some pictures of my INSTALLED shift boot, ebrake boot, center arm rest, and door arm rests, all done by Maciek at REDLINE GOODS in black leather with white piping. I had to remove all the pieces and send them to Poland and drive without them while they were being made. I didn't install any of these myself, I had a professional do it, but I can tell you that I haven't found a way to remove the automatic shift ****. I am very happy with the way everything came out and I would highly recommend REDLINE GOODS.
They did a great job and it matches my interior exactly. Check out my gallery for additional pictures.

A friend that owns a shop called Auto Ego in East Windsor, New Jersey removed the pieces and then installed them for me. I own a restaurant and we bartered so I'm not sure about the cost. All I know is that he had to use a heat gun to stretch the shift boot in order to install it.
Thanks for the Compliment!!
