sport stripes

Hey guys and gals, im looking for some advice about the sport stripes. Ive narrowed my choice down to two people to buy from. Aesthetic creations and Morristown Mini. It seems like everyone has good things to say about AC's quality and what not but when it comes down to it, i want something thats also cost effective.

The MINI sport stripes do not go all the way down to the bumper, which is something i want, so i was thinking of ordering 1 normal boot and bonnet kit, and one roof kit and cutting the material accordingly to cover the bumpers. The price of each set is 68 dollars which would bring me to a total of 136.

AC sells the sport stripes as well, but the pricing is quite different. Both bumpers are 30 bucks a pop, and the boot and bonnet are both 60 each, which brings up my total to 180 for their set.

Although im assuming they would come precut for the seperate pieces, i cant imagine it being that hard to use a razor blade to cut the MINI sold stripes. What do you guys think i should do? based on the 44 dollar difference, im leaning toward the MINI sold option unless someone can convince me otherwise. Thanks in advance!

I went with the dealer's sport stripes. I had to order 2 sets of the black stripes and 1 set of red for the roof, but I tell you, my car gets compliments all the time on the stripes. I love them. I haven't had any issues with them yet, and I've had them since March.

I'm going the Sport Stripes+Extensions route (aka the two set route), and having them put on by the dealer before I take delivery (because the clear bra's getting put on right after). So going aftermarket really wasn't an option for me. Plus I wanted to have them covered under the warranty, so in four years if they're looking sad I can just say 'New stripes, please!'.

If you're self installing my gut reaction would be Aesthetic Creations, but I would have guessed that AC would be cheaper than the dealer option which they are apparently not. I've never seen either variety of stripe in the flesh, so I can't really say who's got better material.

hmm, thanks for the input guys. i think im just going to go the OEM route as well since most people seem to think the quality is decent anyway... and they are cheaper than the AC ones.

I just ordered mine from AC. Slightly more expensive but they're also making me a sweet custom roof graphic so I'm keeping it all from one vendor. :0)

I didn't realize that they had red OEM stripes...

My dealer told me only white and black.

this seems the best deal and you can get any color and width, $40 for the whole car bumper to bumper with very high quality vinyl-

flaco, that is a great resource for cheap quality vinyl stripes! Especially if you wanted 50 yards of it!

Nope, they have red too! I was told only red, black and white, but I bought the red and black from the dealer.

Thanks! I am currently working on de-chroming it. I have done the beltline and have the stuff to do the side markers and a guy in the club is going to do my headlight rings for me. I can't wait!

I got the beltline vinyl from Outmotoring.com....it cost $13 and there's a little extra in case you mess up. It was pretty easy to do, and it changes the look of the car dramatically!

I'm ordering mine from AC-he will be at AMVIV in March and I will have him install them too-I'm not much of a do it your selfer. Tried to install chrome frames on my hood-what a mess and getting them off was a b****h too. Ended up having AV put chrome stripes on he did an awesome job too! Stripes are 2 yrs old and still looking awesome.

My current 03 mini is CR and my 07 on order is PW-sport stripes are for the PW.

cool thanks!

I didn't see it initially, but if anyone is looking for it, look under the "02-06 exterior/trim" section. there is an option there for the R56.
