folding cloth sunroof
Did anyone know that this existed?

I must have one, and save the 50 some-odd pounds that the glass weighs. What would be better is a non-electric one, so I can loose the motor too. Water proofing be damned, that's what scotch guard is for.

Tell me a bit more about that.
I wish I had known more about car modding and the importance of weight when my car was ordered. Yes, it used to be my dad's car, but he'd have listened to me since he would have liked to go faster.

ive been eying that part for a long time now...

ac schnitzer sells it too. it doesnt really matter whether the car has a sunroof/moonroof or whatever. in any case the roof needs to be cut.
i'd love to do this but i fear what it would do for rigidity. you'd never be able to go on track again unless you have a full roll cage.

That and the folding cloth roof have a tendancy to leak, and it has nothing to do with being water proofed. When I was into VW tunning i knew a couple people that had them put in their cars. On the plus side they really do look bad ***.

Good to know. How about removing all the sunroof bits and welding metal in. I'm thinking thin sheet metal. Then grining it flush and repainting the roof. The lack of a headliner in the old sunroof spot wouldn't bother me. This might add to ridgidity too.
