That is really nice, I might have to steal this one as well. Maybe add a little MINI wings logo to the top, maybe not. It looks perfect the way it is.

Very light; 5.5 ounces.

Got a few of them ready to go right now.

How much does it weigh in the aluminium? Thought part of the idea is to have more weight for easier shifting? Also, I think someone asked this already, can you put the shift pattern on the style like Sids? Thanks for the info.

2 things. 1, that's what she said. And second, I hope it's not much bigger than a factory **** because I love the size and feel of the factory ball. Any info on this?

I use standard 2.250" billiard *****.

I have a stock R53 **** on my desk, which measures around 2.175", and a stock R56 ****, which measures around 2.185".

The billiard ***** aren't really much larger.

Drivers will maintain the exact same wrist position & shape of the hand while shifting that they use on the steering wheel when hands are in the 10 and 2 o'clock position.

· Better car control, because the driver’s hand gets back to the steering wheel faster.
· Better feel in the hand, sized similar to most steering wheel diameters.
· The "pistol grip" hand position creates better command & control through every gear change.
· The C.M.S.H. is machined from black Delrin, this shift handle maintains a comfortable temperature in the hottest desert sun, or chilliest freezing winters. An additional cool benefit from the Delrin material it insulates the driver’s hand from heat that is transmitted up from the exhaust tunnel thought the steel shifter and into a metal ****.
· The C.M.S.H. machined surface provides just the right feel on the shifter whether driving gloves are worn or not and polishes itself naturally during normal use.
· The black Delrin looks Very racy & cool.
I turned something similar out of a piece of Ebony that was too small for a ****. I tried it out before sanding and finishing. My impression is that it is good for 1st - 4th gear shifts, not so great for shifting into 5th gear. The thumb does most of the pushing.

Having tried a lot of different shapes and sizes, my favorite is the "light bulb" shape.

I also struggled with whether or not to put something in the middle of that textured area. I was debating down to the last minute whether or not I should put a small polished circle in the center to make it resemble a RAF roundel (mod) symbol and often wonder what that would have looked like. Maybe somebody would be willing to try that

On MINI website, it said to use light wrist action, IIRC. If you use your arm strength then it will put unnecessary stress on the transmission parts. Whether it is true or not.

Fifth gear is spring loaded to keep you from shifting into it when you are trying to hit third. Whether you use your wrist or your arm, you have to overcome that resistance when putting it in fifth.

I don't think it matters what muscles you use, as long as you aren't trying to force it. I suspect that MINI was afraid people would treat it like a Cobra gearbox and slam it around.

I had seen the textured top in doug's gallery on his own website, and just hadn't quite decided which finish to go with until pl4ypl4y posted his pics, then i was sold.

don't have mine yet, but doug sent me the pic just now.

Still trying to get a handle on my waiting list. It's getting shorter; I just got back from the post office, after shipping six ***** today.
More to work on tonight...

Certainly. Whatever the customer wants.

Most of my orders these days involve some type of custom engraving.
