The Canyon Motorsports Shift Handle!
Technology derived from racing!
The design of the new Canyon Motorsports Shift Handle (C.M.S.H.) was inspired by shift handles used by endurance series winners at Le Mans, Daytona 24 hour, Pro Rally & other pro road racing series.
I have developed and tested the C.M.S.H. in the #4 U.S.Touring Car Championship race MINI and on my "daily driver" 2004 MCS.
Some of the major benefits of the C.M.S.H. design are:
· Engineered for a better "pistol grip" hand position on the shifter for cleaner, quicker shifts, because the driver will not have to rotate there wrist 90 degrees to grab a ball style ****. Drivers will maintain the exact same wrist position & shape of the hand while shifting that they use on the steering wheel when hands are in the 10 and 2 o'clock position.
· Better car control, because the driver’s hand gets back to the steering wheel faster.
· Better feel in the hand, sized similar to most steering wheel diameters.
· The "pistol grip" hand position creates better command & control through every gear change.
· The C.M.S.H. is machined from black Delrin, this shift handle maintains a comfortable temperature in the hottest desert sun, or chilliest freezing winters. An additional cool benefit from the Delrin material it insulates the driver’s hand from heat that is transmitted up from the exhaust tunnel thought the steel shifter and into a metal ****.
· The C.M.S.H. machined surface provides just the right feel on the shifter whether driving gloves are worn or not and polishes itself naturally during normal use.
· The black Delrin looks Very racy & cool.
The C.M.S.H. is designed to fit aftermarket MINI shifters with a M12 x 1.25mm thread.
The C.M.S.H. will not fit stock factory MINI shifters.

there is a black/grey burlwood...either birds eye or tigers eye...forget what they call it. I'd love one like that...we used to sell $13k B&W Silver Signature 30 speakers in that finish. Drop dead sexy right there

It might have been birdseye maple dyed black. That kind of thing is commonly done with veneers. Birdseye maple with lots of eyes is hard to find in pieces large enough for shift *****. Seems like all of it is being used for veneer.

Can't see it very well, but it looks dyed to me. The only natural wood I know of to have that cool a black is Ebony, and it has a very fine grain. I've never seen ebony burl -- not sure there is such a thing.

The VW sample looks more like curly or quilted maple. I don't see any "eyes" in it. Curly maple is available. I'd have to research black stains, but probably doable.
