Interior/Exterior Dr Evil's Transformation Part IV
Dr Evil's Transformation Part IV
Yep, another chapter in the evolution of our beloved Dr. Evil.
As you may or may not recall, part one of the transformation was some Union Jackage... headrest bling, wheel center caps, and warning label covers.
Part two of the process was the removal of the OEM bonnet and boot stripes. Yep, he got NEKKID. Some of you wanted him to remain nekked... oddly enough, it was mostly the ladies.
Part three was new bonnet stripes (sorry, ladies), Chili Red mirror caps, and red, perforated leather boots from Redline.
So, we're now up to Part IV of the process. I bet you can guess what I did this weekend. Yep... that's right.
Here's what the boot looked line when we brought the Doctor home from Missouri:

Here's what he looked like after being stripped nekkid:

And after installing a set of custom stripes from Aesthetic Creations that match the bonnet stripes... white with 5/16" red pins, and re-badging as a "Cooper S", here's the new look on Dr Evil's boot:

I also installed some new Black w/Red Dots Cocomats. Sorry, no pic. But everyone knows what they look like anyway, right ? I have another interior mod coming up in a few weeks that I'm sure you will all LOVE. When I get a pic of that, you'll see how nice the mats look.
And just a few more pics I took today after washing and detailing (used Black Wow for the first time) all three of the MINIs today. By the way, my back is killing me. :impatient

Teresa approves... that clinches it, I did the right thing by not leaving his boot nekkid !
Thank you. And thank you. Yep, I guess it has become a "fleet". I was regretting it this morning when giving them all a bath. I normally do one or two on Saturday and the other(s) on Sunday. Going to have to go back to that routine.

I like the boot stripes. I was going to get a set for my Liquid Yellow S, until I saw a set on a yellow one. It made it look like a road barricade.

Thanks, Mel... you have good taste so I know it must have been the right decision.
Thanks, Donna.
Road barricade... I bet it did !!
Thanks, glad you like !

I am soooooooo jealous. But still haven't convinced the wife to expand our MINI family... you almost have a "meet" there... without anybody else coming...
In this pic, Pepper White almost looks like a cabrio - you can't see her roof... though I guess the antenna position and lack of hoops gives it away...

The stripes are nice, but I really loved it nekkid.

Yeah, I know you were in the crowd that liked him nekkid, Clo. Sorry, it's just not in my nature to not dress up my MINIs.
i kinda liked the no rear stripe pict... the focus goes to the union jack
on the headrest making it more simple.
when you have too much your eyes just wander around trying to figure out
where the focus is suppose to be. but that's just me.
otherwise, they look great.
how did you drive all 3 to the photo shoot???

Ken, it wasn't easy. Roxanne wasn't here to help so I drove them to a nearby location one at a time.
Got all three over there, got them in position, and.... dead batteries in the camera. Had to make another trip.
Between washing all three of them and the trips walking back and forth from home and the photo location, I got my exercise today.
And btw, I was hoping the stripes and headrest bling would compliment each other. Didn't mean to confuse you, man !

Where to look, where to look ?Maybe it won't really be a problem. As I'm passing people, the attention will be on the shiny headrest bling. As I get out of sight, the stripes will be the only thing that stands out.
You know, as much fun as the MCSC is to drive due to it's whining supercharger that'll put your back up against your seat, the Coopers are also a blast to drive for their surprising zippiness and nimble handling (plus, the 32 mpg's doesn't hurt if you have a long-ish commute).
That's the next transformation, Jeremy. I bought them a few weeks ago. After reading the install instructions on-line, I definitely do not want to tackle that job on my own. I checked with MoT and they want $440 to install them.
I'm looking for other options.
YOU CAN DO IT!
Okay, so mine are the bonnet-mounted kind so they're a little easier than the kind that go in the lower grille, but still!
I did mine myself and I'm a guuuur-uhhhl
Surely you and Jeremy could work it out!
Edit: And you're right...I never really noticed it before but we do have similar taste! Sophisticated yet...blingy. Heh.

Okay, Mel.... thanks for making me feel inept.
Now, did you have the OEM lights, or are you saying you installed some aftermarket lights ? In my defense, I understand the wiring for the aftermarket lights is much easier.
Reading the instructions for installing OEM lights is like trying to read Mandarin Chinese... in the dark ! :impatient
Hmmmmmm... $400 and no cuss words, or save the money and say about 73 cuss words ?
And yes.... "Sophisticatedly Blingy" is a good term for the look I'm shooting for, just like you.

It is true mine are aftermarket...although my wiring was not the standard wiring for them, after all the crap I had to do to get them to work with the toggles.
But I agree - if I had the $400, I'd probably have the dealer do it too!

i had the piaa's before. they are easy to install. the only hard part was
grinding off the aero grill to make the opening... which is quite easy to do.
if you have the stock grills, it's a breeeeze.
i sold the piaas with the aero grill with opening.
