Wood steering wheel and shifter

For anyone that has the wood steering wheel and shifter(Auto), how do you like it? Does the wheel ever slip out of your hands? It looks very slick in the pictures.

Can someone also post a picture of the wood wheel and shifter? I saw one on here, but I can't seem to find it anymore.

Still haven't ordered my mini yet, so many options. I think I changed my color choce 5 time already.

I have wood steering and dash. sorry I haven't mastered pictures yet. I got my car off the lot. That's how it came - wheel but no shift ****. The wheel is not slippery IMO and I like the way it looks especially with the wood dash. Think I would have liked the wood shift **** too - have seen pics of it.

My Mini will be arriving in a few days. I ordered the wood wheel and shift ****. I have had both in other cars before, and they do not slip. From what I heard, when you drive your Mini, you will have sweaty palms and the sweat combined with the well polished and laquered wood should provide a firm grip.

I have the wood MFSW and the wood shifter, I love them both, the wheel is easy on the hands and does not slip at all. Also the wood is only on the outside of wheel, with the inside being a nice leather or something. I have pictures in my galley of both. I say go with the wood, it doesn't cost any more and looks great.

If I was driving competitively I'd really want an all-leather wheel. As it is though, I do milk-runs and so very much like/enjoy the English Oak trim. It is more slippery than an all-leather wheel I think, but it looks great and feels good enough to make it work just fine for me!!!

Back up the Love Bus a minute here! (Or perhaps Love Mini) It doesn't cost anymore? I thought it was around a $400 upgrade. Was this a deal you struck at the dealer, or am I misreading the brochure?

Also, does anyone know if you have to get the 'regular' MFSW option in order to then get one of the fancy schmancy MFSWs (like the wood, or one of the colored leather ones)? Or could you save the money of basically buying it twice and get the non-multi-functional wheel but replace it with the wood/leather MFSW?

I'm trying to figure out if, say, the cruise control circuitry is already built in whichever wheel you get, there's just no way to control it w/ the standard wheel. Or if the MFSW option adds more stuff behind the scenes other than simply sticking a different wheel on at the factory.

Crump, the pics look great. I wasn't even thinking about the oak until my wife said she liked the BRG color. I think it will go nicely with that.

Until recently I was thinking about going with mellow yellow, but I don't think the wood would look so good with that.

I ordered the premium package which included the MFSW, and the choice of leather or wood. I know the wood wheel wasn't listed as an option online when I ordered, and my MA had to manually add it to my order. And I don't believe you can get the wood wheel without the MFSW, but I could be wrong. Anyway it did not cost anything extra.... So if you were on the fence about the cost of the wood, just add the MFSW and get the wood for free. Just make sure your MA orders the wood....

Personally, I got the wood steering wheel as a sort of nostalgia thing. It's the one item I would change about my Mini. I'd go with the all leather wheel. Even better, I'd probably prefer the JCW steering wheel. I don't care for the feel of the way the wood and leather are bonded together. In this picture, my shift **** is a JCW, if you didn't figure that one out.

Heh, you said 'wood'.

I didn't know there was a leather/wood option, but I've just been using the online configuratormabobber so far. Thanks for the tip!

I'm debating between CR and BRG, and that wood wheel would look pretty good in the green. Hopefully my dealer has one on a car in the lot so I can see/feel it first hand. (Insert any number of 'wood' jokes here.)

Unfortunately, there is no all wood option. The "wood" wheel is wood on the outer half and leather on the inner half of the wheel rim. I was hoping there was something available like the old Nardi wheels.

Apparently, there is no more option to get a wood wheel or shifter. I just ordered my mini today and was told mini did away with the option because there werte too many mix ups. Oh well.

That looks gooood Capt. In fact that's almost exactly the car I'm thinking of ordering (just throw some white Bridgespoke wheels on there). Too bad the wood wheel/shifter seems to have gone the way of the dodo (and the mudflaps too. Booooo!).

What makes you think the mud flaps are gone? I still see them in the configurator.

Man, I was really obsessed about those mudflaps. New personal rule: no forum posting after 4AM. I must have forgotten where they were hiding them in the configurator.

RhinoBob, did your car come w/ the Wood shift **** as well (which you replaced w/ the JCW)? Thx!

I hope mine comes as configured, w/ Wood MFSW and Shift ****

The original Oak Wood steering wheel was pulled from the configurator some time ago due to safety issues. MINI re-released it only in the last three months and it still hasn't surfaced on the configurator yet, but the fact is that it is available to order as far as I know. Have your advisor enter these description codes to make sure;

(This is how it was listed on my build sheet)

DESCRIPTION MSRP
249 Multi-function steering wheel N/C
254 Sports wood steering wheel 550.00

4BE Interior surface English Oak 300.00

I'm not sure which option added the wood shift **** since I have both, but I think it comes with the steering wheel. The wood door bars were included with the dash.

BTW...I highly recommend the wood interior. It's a personal choice to be sure, but I've gotten more compliments than I can believe on how classy and upscale my interior looks. Also, the wood isn't as slippery as it looks!

I'll have to ask my ma again. She told me it is no longer available and this was less than a week ago. I'm still on the fence about the wood wheel though. Does it feel wierd in your hand where the wood meets the leather? I've only driven ones with the leather and the wheel felt really good.

I just talked to my MA, and he switched me from the leather to the wood steering wheel.

I ordered the wood steering wheel. I like the feel of a wood wheel. The wood wheel in my Jaguar has leather only at the spokes. I am delaying my build until early December. I hope this will be sorted out by then.

I've got a PW Mini on a boat somewhere, my ma ound one already manufactured that matched my preferences pretty well, including the wood dash, then i found out it also had the wood wheel. Couple of questions, is the wood real wood, and is the wood shift **** available in the aftermarket
