Anyone have any news on the Schroth Harness for the R56? I've called Schroth multiple times but am getting no where.

Why wouldn't the one for the R53 work? The length is practically the same. The mounting points should be the same. I'd imagine the brackets would still fit. All you do to mount it is pull off the bolt for the seatbelt mounts in the front and back and stick the mount on with the little seat belt clip.

Someone in this thread said that with modification that the R53 would fit. Not sure how that's going to affect how safe it is. Call me naive but I'd be much more comfortable with a harness that was tested and verified for my specific car.

I'm kind of stunned at how slow the vendors have been to make R56 mods and accessories. I'm waiting for the R56 harness upgrade, too. In the meantime, it's CG Locks and I just ordered a HANS.

And I just cancelled the HANS order because it requires a racing harness

Take a look at the R3. It doesn't require shoulder harness belts. It's popular amongst instructors because they can go from car to car taking their protection with them.

Hey, thanks for that lead. I'm going to explore it right away.

I called HMS today (7/22). They said that the R56 seats with Schroth harnesses are going out for testing today, and that the results will be back "in a month or two".

Here we are, well into 2009, and still no Schroth solution for the R56 from HMS.

Yes, there is a Schroth solution but NOT the Quick Fit. We've sorted a bolt in harness bar that allows the use of the Profi II ASM 4pt solution. This is a very popular harness for our Lotus clients. We will offer it along with our new MINI harness bar. Our Harness bar is in production now. Learn more here: BLOG.

BTW: Check out our lil contest: Name Our New MINI Harness Bar

First batch is in production now. We will have them ready by month end - in time for the MINI track event at Spring Mtn.

$425 for the bar. Name to be announced this week!

If the seats are going to be approved by Schroth, go for the quick-fit and do the minor mod to make them fit.

The problem is that we have all been waiting for the testing to be completed and there in no ETA. I would agree that this is a simpler solution. We carry the 1st gen versions as they are a great solution. Until the testing is complete our harness bar along with the Schroth Profi II, will be the safest and most secure harness solution available for our 2nd gen cars.

Schroth has sent the items out for testing. You can be very certain that if a company has sent out a product to be 3rd party tested that they are darn near 100% sure that it will be approved. You don't send out products to be certified w/o being as close to absolutely sure they will pass, way to expensive to just start sending out parts.

I'd agree, as an engineer who has developed hundreds of parts for OEM and aftermarket use, I will say that sometimes the testing comes back not as you would like. There is no guarantee.

Regardless, our solution is safer as it does not rely on the strength of the seat to take the load from a crash.

As far as I can tell from the posts here, there is a small bit of plastic that has to be shaved off of the belt buckle to allow the male end to fit in the buckle.

I'm excited about the product and may consider it but I'm not so sure that monkeyBar says safety and stability to me.

Agreed. We debated internally how silly the name was but came to the conclusion that track junkies would scrutinize our bar thoroughly & forget the name - except for some good cocktail chatter. When one looks at how the bar attaches to 5 different points and is constructed from DOM tubing - a customer will conclude that it is not only safe but very secure. Our bar properly routes the harnesses as well. We're track junkies and very serious about safety. See this link to watch a Safety Webinar we created with Schroth.

We figured the funny name would be forgiven, once the prospective customer looked into how well the bar is engineered. We know that our name (Kappasphere/Sector111) is relatively unknown in the MINI community. But those who know us from the Lotus/Solstice/Sky/Atom communities will vouch for our laser like focus on track safety and performance.

And I love funny names....see mine.

Am I correct in my reading that the Schroth PROFI II ASM 4-Point Harness, and any 4-point harness, and any harness with ASM (anti-submarine) for that matter, CANNOT be used with a HANS device?

The ASM harness is approved for use with HANs. Testing was complete last year and this set-up was accepted last Sept. See Schroth's Release: CLICK HERE
