Houndsooth Bonnet Strip ?

Hello everyone, I am wondering if anybody has or has seen houndsooth bonnet stripes. I have a DS MCS and was thinking of having these made for me. The colors would be black (to match my roof) and silver (to contrast with the DS).

I was looking around the Aesthitic Creations site and saw the plaid on there, so hey, why not another textile?

SO, what are your thoughts? Yeah, or Nay...impatient

Thanks!

I personally am imagining them as being too "busy", but what matters most is what YOU like - so go for it!

You may want to see if you can have a sample Photoshopped before you pay money for custom stripes, but even if you don't, it's niot like you can't easily DEinstall them if you put 'em on and find that you don't like them as much as you hoped you would.

Interesting idea. You should explore it further.

The most interesting thing about the design to me is how its checked pattern is made of interlocking pieces that are more complex than a simple 4-sided check. There are many "tiled" design patterns of this type that might be interesting to MINI owners as trim on our cars. This type of geometric pattern is also called a tessellation.

M.C. Escher explored and made famous, several complex tiled patterns in his art. One of the more complex of these is seen here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regular...n_of_the_Plane

Regular Division of the Plane is a collection of Escher's works of this type, which include many animal figures.

This is an area that could gain popularity in the MINI community. It could certainly "you-ify" cars -- MINI or otherwise. I have so far not seen any tiled pattern more complicated than a simple check on a MINI.

Yeah - I've previously thought about Escher stripes... maybe lizards...

I think a large herringbone pattern could work... but it would be DIFFERENT - be prepared for the cool kids to call it ugly... I know from personal experience here...

I have NO idea what you're talking about there, Blimey. But then, nobody ever called me a "cool kid".

Why not, it's part of the MINI culture to be different, & now you have me thinking of an all black MINI with faux wicker work on the sides like the old coach work style.... might look good.........

I like the Escher lizard pattern.

I'm pretty sure that he did a "metamorphosis" based on that shape, which, when scanned lefto to right (or vice-versa) went from less-defined, sort of abstract shapes to "realistic" and well-defined lizards, which would be really cool as a stripe on the car.

A "lizard tile stripe" graphic kit could also include separate single lizard (scaled larger than those contained in the stripe) to go elsewhere on the car (outside of or maybe ovelaying the patterned stripe). Fading colors in and out of the pattern could also be a part of the theme. I like the whole "metamorphosis" theme that such graphics could suggest. You also would not HAVE to have a hard edge to the stripe(s).

Yeah - my problem is that I need a whole FLEET of MINIs cause I already have 3-4 major design themes that I'd like to do... but don't want to change what I have on Blimey...

Escher (the EXACT lizard concept you describe is what I was thinking, actually - spooky)

Totemic Orcas

Union Jack (oh yeah, already doing that one...)

Kokopelli (to match my tat)

....

Thanks for the input! I think i'm gonna do it

I'll have to call the AC guys and see how much this will run me.

It was either that, or custom air brushed mirror covers (in wood grain)

I think that would look great, right on the panel where our side vents are located. Shoot, maybe even on the boot? I like the look of different textures, like fabric on a automobile... My first idea was to have the black windscreen pillars painted like a dark cherry wood, (like the vintage cars). I haven't seen anyone do that.

Or, you could TEAK the MINI out... Like the RR Drophead....
