Interior/Exterior Dr Evil's Transformation Part III
Dr Evil's Transformation Part III
Here's the latest on our newest family member, Dr Evil's, tranformation.
To refresh your memory, here's what he looked like when we brought him home:

And here's what he looked like after being stripped nekkid:

If you recall the "Dr Evil's Transformation Continues" thread, some of you thought he should stay nekkid (mostly you ladies). And some of you thought he should get some clothes on. Well... those of you whom have come to know me over the last year, now that I'm not the kind of guy who is going to leave a MINI nekkid for very long.
So... since I last posted pics, here's what I've done.

The mirror caps I bought from a MINI dealership and took them to a local body shop to have them painted Chili Red with a few layers of clearcoat. The stripes, of course, came from Mike at Aesthetic Creations. The red pins on the side are nearly twice as wide as OEM and just a bit wider than Mike normally makes them. We went with 5/16".
Also did a little work on the inside. Gone are the OEM black boots. Replaced with perforated red from Redline Goods:

And, just to throw it in... here's a shot we took today of all three of our babies:

Thanks for stopping in. Stay tuned for "Dr Evil's Transformation Part IV.

Ruh-roh ! You must not think too much of the new stripage then !
Thanks ! Yeah, I'm really loving those mirror caps. No, when they came from the dealership (MINI of Peabody, Mass), they came with primer. Although I couldn't tell it had any primer on it, looked like plain black plastic to me. The body shop sanded them before they painted them, just to make sure the paint adhered. And yes, they used the paint code for MINI's Chili Red.
Part IV... a couple of minor mods will be done in about two weeks.

I LOVE IT!!!!
So are you leaving the UJs on the rollbars, or are you going a different way with that, too?
LOVE the red perforated leather on the boots. Love love LOVE the stripes!

Ah, I thought Part IV was going to be a rack of 5 driving lights down low!

Waiting for a couple of weeks is fine, I'm sure we will all be around.

Yeah, it looked clean in two ways: No stripes, and the sun was shining and made the car look more reflective. Actually, I buffed out a lot of swirls and scratches since that pic was taken and it's acutally a lot "cleaner" now.
Thank you, Dear !
Oh yes, the UJ stuff was the first part of The Transformation and they're staying. UJ roll bars, center wheel caps, and warning label covers. Also added the UJ licence plate frames since then (you can see the front one in a pic above).
Yep, the perforated red was selected from the swatches you sent me ! Reminds me, I need to update that thread to pass them on.
Glad you like those stripes... I think along with the mirror caps, they look pretty damn hot !
Let's HOPE we're all still around in a couple of weeks !!
Five driving lights... nooooooooo, I can tell you right now that is not Part IV.

Ewwwwwwwwwww... thanks for the great idea, Jay !
As you probably has the same weather a little south of us (or maybe not), it was not a good day for pics today. Next time I have all three cleaned up and the weather is good, we plan to get some better pics. We'll be sure to get one like the sig !

Yep, Jay beat you to it, but you get credit for the idea just the same. More pics to come on a nicer day !

NOOOOOOOOOOBODY could copy YOU, Blimey !
Nope, I think that's it for the UJ stuff on Dr Evil. Just enough to add some more red to the MINI, spice it up a bit, and compliment the overall appearance. Glad you're liking the new stuff. After all, we know your taste is beyond question.
How do you like the boots? The perforation looks really cool

(not that anyone would WANT to copy me... official member of the m|u ugly MINI club... hehehe)
I love the boots. This is the second set of boots I got from Redline and the PW MINI was the shift boot from them also (e-brake boot to come soon).
I'm getting pretty good at installing them, too. Although the e-brake boot removal is still a minor PITA.
But hey, if we could... ! Your MINI is not only NOT ugly, it's also one of the most unique in the MINI world.
How many UJs did you say you have ??
You know, I think my fiance is finally catching The Mod Bug... she just put a Redline boot on her shifter and now she's ordering a Whalen shift ****. This is going to make my life much easier now that she understand the illness.
