wait a minute... I know this is going to sound very cold. But what does Bryce's health problems have anything to do with your tuner lug purchase?

Aesthetic Creations: Mike is a good guy, even if he does get bogged down with orders, heh. The vinyl he offers is top notch! It can be difficult to get ahold of him at times though.

Actually, nothing. If you read all the posts, some even gave PU hell over Byrce citing his health problems in his reply. I agree it is not an excuse to defend the product. About the only slack I think approriate is the time lag in responding to customer issues and even that I wrote needs attention. See my earlier post that stated:

"While I am sure folks are sympathetic, businesses do need to find means to fill in for employees who are incapaciated by illnesses. I wish Bryce the best, but PU does need to plan on how to fill in for what sounds like Bryce's diminished schedule."

Anyone know who makes their lightweight forged wheel? Any problems with them?

I also had an issue with my palo uber tuner lugs rusting out in the center. One PM to Carol and Bryce rang me up to let me know that they apparently had a batch of lugs that went wrong with the finishing process, and promptly fed ex'd me a new set. I'm waiting on some new wheels to arrive, but those will be what I'll use...and we'll see how they hold up!

I'm really sorry you're having drama with your wrench and key..that sucks! Keep trying them, I'm sure they'll sort you out quickly like they did for me.
Have the new wheels arrived and are the PU lugs on yet? Thanks for the supportive words; I have a new set on for 2 weeks now and so far so good.

From the comments made on PU wheels here and elsewhere, I'd expect you can direct this question to RallyMINI, Passat774, and F15EWeapon.

I believe, at least one set anyways, that their wheels are made by SportMaxx

Assuming one in particular will acknowledge they aren't PU "exclusive" or that there could ever possibly anything wrong with a "PU" product.

The list of good vendors is extensive:
Ian Cull is an enthusiast, and a vendor who has also helped many with advice on any questions regarding moding the toggle switches . . . so another +

I've personally also received great assistance/customer service from Helix and M7.

I also want to add Brent of Mini Do More to the list of great vendors. He is trully an enthusiast and gret supporter of the MINI community. I met him at MOTD and greatly enjoyed talking to him -- plus he contributed 2 of his hitch receivers to the MOTD Casino Night . . . great guy (and I'm not just saying that 'cause one of those 2 receivers is now on my car )

That's the one. Any idea where I can get them. I'm more interested in the light weight and forged wheel than the look. Thanks for the info.

It can't be an ugly wheel.
That wheel is about as light as I've found for an 18" wheel. The NAM price on the Uber site is actually pretty good since the similar (same) SportMaxx wheel goes for $309/each at an on-line shop.

Well, it took almost 72 hours (not bad under any circumstances), but Bryce got back to me with a reply that indicates PU will take care of my issue pretty quickly and in the best possible way. Now, I am sure some will say, "that is a bunch of issues, more than you would want to deal with on any vendor" or "they should take care of it", but the hard reality is not every vendor takes care of your issues the way you would like or does it without a lot of conflict or does it quickly. As to the frequency, yes, problems came up on a majority of the times I purchased. However, the bottom line is they fixed my other problems and it seems they will fix this one too. I cannot help but think my ability to get satisfaction really began when we started a live dialogue by telephone rather than leaving it all to e-mail; we also started talking calmly to each other, rather than heatedly at each other. While everyone should get their problems addressed whether the dialogue is heated or friendly, it just seems the friendly approach works best.

yeah, that's a serious rip off.

$216.00 a piece

$270.00 a piece

$229.00 a piece

all priced for 18"s. and that was in the top 10 results thru google.

glnr13, THANKS for the links. Guess I suck at searching for the best price since I couldn't find it for less than $300.

The best part is Performance Plus is the tire store I go to!!!

Well sounds like someone who received a new set of lugs to make up for a prior rusty set is experiencing rust yet again. I wonder how many bad batches were made?

If they would quit dipping them in BS, they'd prob. stop rusting....

I think it would just be better for them if they let their customers know up front that black-oxide fasteners will likely flash-rust if there's any significant moisture in the air, but that it won't affect the structural integrity of the fastener, and that it can be reduced by keeping some anti-sieze on the threaded portion of the stud.

This is what TSW has done with their black-oxide fasteners, and I doubt they've lost many customers over it.

I've expressed the same feelings to PU in multiple PM's. They don't have to lie and say the artist is famous....they could probably sell plenty of parts while telling the truth and saying he is an unknown artist. Much like the HP gain hype....they could just say they never did any tests and I'm sure people would still buy it because it looks cool.

But instead, they insist on lying so that there are a large number of unhappy customers

Actually ScottRiqui, these lugs are chrome all around.. no black anywhere. Just rust.

Add WayMotorWorks to the top notch vendors list. Waylen does great work, stands behind it and may be the only factory trained technician who's also a vendor. I recommend him highly. Now PU, that's another story.
