Got the shift **** on!

I got this **** from Robin Casady. It has a Whalen adapter. I finally got my OEM **** off. The whole thing came off leaving just the boot leather intact. Removed the lower black ring from the plastic flange, put it over the shifter, stuffed the boot into it, and put on the adapter, screwed on the ****. Perfect! The boot/ring stays up even though it isn't attached to the adapter. Here are pix of the beautiful African Blackwood/Amboyna burl inlay ****. The "black" isn't really pure black as you can see, it has a brown grain in it, depends on the light. Does English Oak justice. I think this is the first one he's sold anywhere. Here's a link to what he's made so far for the R56

Now that's a quality piece!

It looks fantastic, I can see him moving a lot of those!

Lighter I cannot say, but the **** is so incredibally smooth on your hand touching it that shifting is a joy. I'm glad this was my first mod because the **** dominates the interior. It isn't in the center of the car for no reason is it?

Your new shift **** is beautiful and the perfect touch to the interior. Robin is in the same class with Doug Whalen, an old world craftsman.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. I just got out of the hospital (last night) after an unexpected ordeal and am recovering in Los Angeles with my brother.
