Interior/Exterior Autometer Gauges - Help
Autometer Gauges - Help
I have a 2005 MCS with the chrome package. I plan to buy Autometer boost and oil pressure gauges.
1. Which gauges best match the OEM Tach look and lighting? Is it the Ultralite 11 model?
2. Does anyone know if they are available with chrome bezels? If so, which vendor(s)?
Thanks a bunch

There really aren't any gauges that match the stock one's perfectly. The Autometer Ultralights match the stock color in the daytime but are lit from around the edge (instead of through the ticks) so they don't match at night. There are other gauges that match at night (like the one's Stoopidgirl is selling) but don't match during the day.
I chose to use Stewart Warner maximum performance gauges. They are the closest match to stock gauges I've seen. The grey background is very close and illumination is done around the edge of the gauge (like Autometer) but also through the numbers and ticks. The only thing that doesn't match is the actual swing dial. The SW one is not lit while the stock one's are. This makes it a little hard to read at night but it's not too bad. The main thing you have to do is replace the incandescent bulb that comes with the gauge with the Stewart Warner amber led upgrade. They run $15-$20 a piece but this matches the stock lighting nearly perfect. These LED's are a little bit dimmer than stock but I used the one's meant for gauges. I wonder if the one's for tachs and speedo's would be better.

I too would like to know where he got the LED for the SW as well. perhaps a part number.

I'm wondering if they put out more light than the bulbs?
