I am very interested in these mats but I am also very disappointed in the quality of my factory fitted JCW floormats (the ones with the red stitching). I was wondering if these are made of the same carpet material or a thicker one.

These are very similar to the MINI Velour mats material ( found in most BMW mats also ) and the piping seams to be a leatherette material. I have them and very happy with them.

I have the factory mats in my JCW Roadster and the OEM mats in my F10. The BMW's are at least three times thicker, heavier and plusher, there's really no comparison. Would be fantastic if they were F10 quality, but the factory MINI mats are very poor.

The general materials is about the same, even though the BMW ones are thicker from the base and dependent on what type of mats. They use the same suppliers most of the time. Also in other countries some mats are different, because of markets. Japan get different mats all together and they are a Berber weave of some kind

Thank you for trying to help but unfortunately I am still unsure if they are what I am looking for. The mats in the Roadster have already started thinning and deforming with less than 3000 miles on the clock (car is three months old) while the F10's mats still look absolutely brand new after 3 years and 30K miles in two F10s as I had them in my 2012 and kept them when I traded it in for the 2014. I had the Metropolitan mats in my 2012 Countryman (the ones with the white florescent piping) and I remember they were a little better than the factory JCW mats. Are these the same?

Welcome. Hope this helps.

Compared metropolitan mats ( Cosmopolitan mats here ) they are very close the same, maybe a hair thinner. But the pile is the same, the backing is the newest design which feels like a fine Velcro soft material ( grippy but not rubber ), which must be so the mat does not move as much as those soft underside older BMW mats.

Thanks again. I think I confused cosmo for metro, so I am sure you're right about the name. However, based on your explanation - for which I am grateful - I am convinced these are the same as the factory JCW mats, just with red piping instead of stitching :(
