Minis in Los Angeles
Minis in Los Angeles
Hi guys and gals, just back from 8 loooong weeks away from Sadie. I was driving a Nissan Sentra, not bad, but definitely not a Mini.
It's so funny, 1-1/2 years ago, all I saw in LA were Indi Blue Minis. Last year, the vast majority were the two silvers. This year, Pepper White was by far the most popular.
Universal City Mini had the Cabriolet in every single color--it was fun to see them. I didn't dare look at the stickers.
My car rental guy (Sam at Black & White in Beverly Hills) now has 5 Minis to rent at $69 a day (half the price of Budget), so if you're in the area and want a Mini, you now know where to go. He's got a Hot Orange Cabrio, several Pepper Whites and a couple of Blacks. I didn't get one because $18 a day for the Sentra was too good to pass up, but I did mean to rent a Mini for a day or two but just never did it.
I did see one VR/VR and one SG/SG (that's Silk Green, not Solid Gold!).
Both of them made my day. Dubbed (by me) the #1 Mini intersection where you're likely to see one is still Melrose and San Vicente Blvd. in West Hollywood.
Glad to be back!

Aloha SouthSeaSadie!
Welcome back!
I'm sure Sadie is glad to be Motoring again
WOW! A rental place with 5 MINIs
I didn't realize there were any extra MINIs to be had for a rental place.
Isn't inventory pretty tight in SoCal?

We're so happy
to have you back home safe and sound.$18 a day for a rental? Good thing you weren't in Chicago I think they charge 18% a day of the rental cost for using Ohare airport rental sites!
Sounds like it's time for another MINI event!

My rental car guy got in good with someone at Universal Mini and managed to get his orders through. He only paid $1,000 over sticker for the Cabrio
, but then he's a small independent guy, but he buys a lot of cars. He also has BMWs for rent, so perhaps that's how he worked it with the dealer.
A good day for the M & M would be the last Sunday in February. Yes, I know it coincides with the Pulley Party, but if BME is available on Sunday, it can be a dual event day. All one has to do is cut through the Imperial Plaza parking lot to get to MoH.
As far as the color selection goes, it seems that LA and Hawaii are about the same. The release of the MINI had a plethora of Chili Red. After that, it seemed like the next color was Indi Blue, after that was the Dark and Pure Silvers. Finally, the release of Pepper White had us seeing lots of white, at least in East Oahu.
