if this is WTLW, sorry.

while on my shuttle ride from the dealership (had to take it in for soft/limp pcv hose and the air leak that i keep hearing when i drive), the driver mentioned the cheap movie prices at wallace theaters in restaurant row. i had no idea they dropped the prices...but then again, i hardly go to movies.

i believe it's $.50 for matinees & all day on tuesday & $1 for evenings. the features consist of pretty newly released movies. this is cheap cheap cheap but i guess the theater can still make money off of the concession stand. who can resist hot dogs, nachos, bon bons, and popcorn?

They make money because they get free rent.

Maybe the theaters would be otherwise pretty empty if they did not run that promotion. Or maybe they want to get more people to come to that area to help the other food places. They can make some money off of the food they sell and any parking fees.

It's spring break, maybe more people will go. Not a bad thing for $1.

I remembered when I was in 7th grade going to movies at the old Kaimuki or Queens theaters for about 75 cents. I saw the Getaway with Steve McQueen or Kellys Heroes.

Yikes! The old Kaimuki Theatre where 3660 is located. I haven't thought about that place for decades. And the Queen Theater just went downhill from a family theater to a porno theater, a plumbing store and now I think it's empty.

i just went there the other saturday while my mini was being worked on at sonic. i had ~4 hours to kill, so i hopped on the #19 or #20 to restaurant row, saw "last samurai" for $.50, bought medium popcorn for ~$4, caught #20 back to sonic, and drove off in my newly suspensioned mini.

perfect and cheap way of killing time. woulda liked to have watched "51 first dates", but the times didn't work out. this is a deal of a decade. theatres are ~2/5 size of the new theatres. but the seats, food, audio/visual is more than good enuff. especially for $.50. even the bus fare one way is more expensive.

He saves his lunch money with the $1 movie club so he can be in the $15K MCS mod club.
Nothing wrong with that.

i am part pahke, as my fave restaurant is pahke's.

and yes, i do in fact save my p/u for surfing right down the road. or at most into town for surfing at diamond head or rockpiles. that way, i think i fill up gas ~1x/2-3 weeks. then i gotta head on over to costco for my cheapo 89 octane gas.

uhmmm...$15k club? i think i gotta empty out my drawer that has all my mini receipts and add'em up.

i think in a few more months my money tree in the backyard should begin flowering again. then, soon after i'll be set for some new mods.

I hate to tell you but if you have $15,000 worth of upgrades in receipts they hardly will fit in a drawer so if that drawer is overflowing with papers you might already be in the club. My reciepts take up quite a bit of a small box.
Ouch. (my wallet is groaning from having an empty stomach)

It would be faster and easier just to marry into money. Better put on some shades and go cruising up and down Waikiki in your hot MINI.

kbseto,
I thought you were going to get a custom audio system?
That might add to the $$$ damage.
Is that on hold for now?
You could always sell one of your surf boards.

funny you should ask...today my co-worker was just checking out my recent mods. he was fairly impressed with the ride. last time we went for a ride, i had not yet done my tb, suspension, exhaust. he was certainly impressed with the milltek exhaust, but really couldn't see the diff with my new springs. just the way i liked it, not too obvious a drop and a deeper exhaust note, although initially i thought it was a bit too loud for me.

he's expecting the infinity bass link in the mail soon from e-bay for his acura integra. he heard it at circuit city and was satisfied. then he popped the question to me - when am i gonna upgrade my audio?

basically, my answer was sometime this year, as i'm still not sure how far i'm gonna go. my initial vision was somewhat a notch below my p/u, but as my performance mods have stacked up, i'm lowering my audio standards some. mostly because i wanna be able to hear and enjoy my car while driving. and partly because i've already spent $xxxxx on my other mods. at the very least, i plan on getting new deck, new speakers, 1 or 2 amps, and a mini sub. probably looking at ~$3000+.

luckily my money tree should be bearing plenty fruit again this summer, so i'll begin thinking more seriously then. but then again, by that time some other goodies will have been tested and might be available for purchase.

Go on the date, but let me know when it is. Then I can appropriate his money tree.

Hey that is pretty polite to ask for the wallet and not just help yourself.

Your hot MINI! silly.
Who else has a BRG/W MCS with JCW kit , Alta intake with hose, re-bored throttlebody, Milltek exhaust and roof rack who surfs and eats out.

Plus you are single.
