[HI] 02/21/04 mini MINI cruise
#1
Well it started out with much interest but somehow our MINI cruise lost drivers and got canceled; however, it ended-up being a mini MINI cruise in the end. Ghui (and his wife) saw us off at Hawaii Kai and three of us headed up the coast. Minihune plotted the course as we drove - with me in the middle and Andrew covering our okoles. The drive up the coast was very scenic but non-eventful. Things really picked-up when the MINIs hit the twisties though. FUN! Here are some pics I took. I hope we can do this again with a full turn-out.

hey, i never knew you too have brg/w mcs...and you got the bonnet stripes. i took mine off so i could put on the clear bra, but plan to put 'em back on eventually.
i'm glad you guys still got to go, even though seemingly most everybody dropped off at the last minute.
i'm up for next weekend, if anybody's interested. how's about sunday? guarantee i should have my mini back by then.

Those are great pics! Wish I were there.
Hey, since MINI and a Movie is no more.....maybe we should replace it with a cruise. That way, we all can still get together on a regular basis. If the time/place to meet is set, then no need for people to scramble around the morning of. Just a thought.

BRG is Andrew (not sure what his screen name is). He had his h-sport goods installed at Sonic this afternoon. Mine is the Pure Silver one.

Were you guys up at the Pali Lookout? Looks like some pics were taken there.
If you're talking about the red lights on minihune's rear bumper, they are actually reflectors. That is the only way clear taillights can be DOT legal.
DaKineMINI - Please be careful when taking pics and driving, especially those rear view shots. We don't want any of you guys to have any accidents.

Of course I don't know the roads well so most of the time I didn't know where we were - just trusted minihune and followed the clear tail lights. But yes, we ended-up at Pali Lookout - nice and cool there.
When I took the rear shot, we were stopped at the longest light on the island.
Speaking of accidents.......on my way home the H1 was jammed between Kunia and Makakilo exits due to a flipped over car. The car was on the other side, however, the lookey-loos kept both sides jammed. People on my side were pulled over and out of their cars looking! The accident looked pretty bad.....flipped over car, guy laying next to the car curled up. Had two fire trucks working on on the car.

Good idea keikilee! Monthly cruise sounds great! If it's set monthly, it'll be easier for those of us who need "approval" to go out to play. Who else thinks this is a good idea?

>>If we do it monthly, I guess it needs to be worked around SCCA. Does anyone know the 2004 schedule?

It looks like SOLO II is held on the first sunday of every month? How about we plan for a montly cruise on the 3rd weekend of every month?
I might be the only one who likes the idea of alternating between Saturdays and Sundays, but do you think it's possible to have at least a few saturdays thrown in there? I'd love to be able to make it, but Sundays are very bad for me.
Once we all agree on a schedule, I'll start a new thread.

Before we make MINI cruises a regular thing please do keep in mind the safety of all participants and bystanders.
Please read this on driving in a group-

A safe trip is the best trip. Sometimes the traffic is pretty heavy and in some areas you have to really look out for people pulling out in front of you.
Maybe we can pick a scenic route with stops to take in a view or two along the way.

panties in a bunch are no good, keikilee. try thongs.
i think a monthly event is a good thing, whether it be a cruise or other event. maybe it can alternate between cruises/pot lucks/bbqs/poker nights/etc just so everyone's interests can be captured. i don't mind cruises as long as i ride shotgun
