[NAM] Hi. My name is erik808 and I'm a...

NAMaholic.

Last night was the night for me to hit the books. It was perfect for the taking. I began to type. Type some more. I kept on typing until it was bedtime. What did I accomplish last night, you may ask? Answer: a lot of NAM-HI posts. Did I study any? No, not one bit. Did I regret posting alongside my NAM-HI motorers/friends/competitors for most of the night? To tell you the truth --> no. Now, that's a problem.

I tried to moderate my viewing and posting for months now. Unsubscribed to NAM-HI months ago. Unsubscribing effective? Nope. Too interesting. Too much fun. Actual friendships have popped up locally from being a NAM-HI member and those are awesome but have not helped my dilemma in the least.

I have a f/t job, a p/t job, go to school, have a lovely girlfriend (she played a very large role in the decision that I decided to make), have many hobbies, receive e-mails by the buckets, and plan/organize/clean constantly. Plus, I used to be a gym fanatic. Those days are now gone. No time. What is worse is that I feel basically unaffected by the running out of my time.

I have decided to take action. NAM posting is like eating potato chips. Cannot stop at just one. At least not for me. Doing things to the extreme is in my makeup, I'd say. In addition to that, there are too many topics that I am drawn to in NAM: Hawaii, USA, modding/performance, autocross, off-topic/shooting the breeze. Never ends.

Therefore, I have decided to leave NAM. This final post of mine will finally keep me accountable. I would like to thank everyone for making my last 7 months really, really, really enjoyable and memorable. Feel free to e-mail me anytime (yes, e-mail is another issue) @:

erik_tanaka@hotmail.com

Hawaii folk know where to find me. I'll be there at Solo II every single month with "23 STS" on my sides.

Take much care, everyone.

Sincerely,
Erik Tanaka

Even though erik won't read this, I feel like I have to post anyways.

Erik was my first MINI friend....and even though I teased him about being a post *****, he always had so many positive things to say. There are way too many people here on NAM that just love to put others down, and act like their opinion means more than others. Erik's posts were always refreshing, yet corny, but what the heck, he's a nice guy!

Anyways, i guess what I'm saying is that NAM - Hawaii may not be the same without him. Who will we have to start such fun Off-topic threads in the Hawaii section? Who else (besides Happy) will use, so effectivly, the BOLD and ITALIC functions accompanied by the various happy faces? Who, who???

Oh Erik....you will be missed!

erik808 is one of the happiest and nicest people i've met in my lifetime  i tease him about post-whoring and thread hijacking, too  hehehe...but it's all in fun as everyone loves erik808!

hmm, something tells me that he'll take a quick peak at nam...but even if he doesn't, i know where erik lives as well as his phone no (and his gf lives in the same complex as my parents)....so i can always find him

wow! is eric serious about this? what's he going to school for? and how can he possibly go to school when he has a f/t and p/t job and gf? how can he even find time to auto-x?

sheesh, i thought i didn't have hardly any time to spare with my f/t and p/t job and love of surfing. but i kinda got the p/t job cause i needed some $$$ to blow on my mini. which actually is taking up way more time than i already had anticipated as i had never intended to mod it as much as i am now. which led me to following this website pretty much daily. ahhh...one thing just keeps leading to another. and it all began with a little mini...

He's either finishing his masters....or going back for a teaching degree.....or getting a second masters degree. I couldn't keep up with him. I'm pretty sure it's just finishing his masters in Family therapy (or something to that effect). He's super busy.....crazy busy......I don't know how he does it!

Erik is finishing his graduate degree in Marriage and Family Counseling at Chaminade. He teaches Preschool at Mililani Mauka too!

Dang! When I first read this thread there were no other posts. I didn't know what to say as I was taken aback by his withdrawal.

Erik, you will be missed for all your posts and upbeat disposition.

He'll be in for a surprise tomorrow morning when he starts his comp at work and has an e-mail from me!

ET, phone home!

Well, Erik won't be working 2 jobs AND earning a master's degree forever (I assume he'll keep the MINI and the girlfriend  We've all had our struggles with some form of addiction or another. (I've given up caffeine many times, for example.

Aloha to Erik808.
Maybe a break will be good for him.
There are other things for him to do for now.
We can look forward to seeing him and his MC at the autocross each month.
Best of luck with your work.

Well folks it's been a little under a month since Erik808 went AWOL from NAM Hawaii forum and he is sadly missed and we are lacking the energy and enthusiasm of earlier times since he left.

So Erik808 if you are out there, I hope I get to see you at this weekend's SCCA event on sunday.
I hope you are doing well.

Look who voted on the monthly cruise poll on 808-motoring!

BTW, I'll be cutting grass with erik808 at Kunia CC on the 03/29. Clear the area because there'll be ***** flying all over the place!

"Cutting grass"- cute. I thought at first you had a part time job as grass mower for the golf course but then I remember Erik is too busy for a part time job.

You mean you will be doing the dimpled Easter Ball hunt for two.
Today on the track at Hawaii raceway park I found a yellow golf ball and a one dollar bill.
Yesterday I found a $20 on the ground. It happened right after I bought lunch for $11 (my son and I).

Today I had the pleasure of seeing Erik808 in person at the autocross.
He had just flown in from his sister's wedding this morning where he was best man.
I think he left his "Superman" cape at the airport because he was wearing a SCCA t-shirt.

Good to see you Erik and thanks for the tip on tire pressures. Nice Falken Azenis 205/50-15 tires on 15" OEM holley rims. They looked and felt super sticky compared to my road tires.

Hope to see you at the next autocross.

It's always good to see Erik808 now and then at Solo 2 each month.
Here's a parting shot-

Hmm, does that mean he's not driving with a front license plate? Shame shame.

I think Erik808 is quite legal with both front and back plates of
"23 STS" for daily use.

On race day he adds the silver meatball on his doors with 23 STS to complete the "look".

uh no....erik808 is not street legal. he does not have (and has never had) a front plate. it's only his mid-pac alumni frame with a black piece of plastic with erik808 engraved on it.

Alarm Alarm.
On checking the database we find some evidence to support the hypothesis that a small piece of metal on the front of said black MC is not where it ought to be...

Long ago and...

More recently.

Oops. So much for being legal.
