Great time at the track today!!!
Mahalo for an amazing time. It was cool to meet you guys. Just a warning for people who have never gone to the track but plan to; bring A) sunscreen and B) a hat. I look like a tomato and feel like a burnt piece of bacon
Erik, How'd you finish? Danielle and I stayed for your 1st run and your false DNF and did not see your best time.

Arioch,
Nice to meet you and Danielle.
Good work "team MINI"- mini-t, Erik808, MINIangel, and Kohu'ulaMINI.
Also nice to see DaKineMINI and Baronius as well.
Hoping to see you there next month.

Arioch,
We were laughing at that one guy that was burnt but, yes, I got cooked too. Should've slathered the sunblock on - man, I don't think I've been this burnt in a while. Came in handy though - when I picked my Dad up at golf this afternoon and had a few beers with my Dad's friends, the redness did not show as much (you know how Asian folks turn red fast yeah?).

Arioch and other Hawaii NAM members,
Tomorrow all day some of us are headed out to the Hawaii Raceway park out past Kapolei a bit for the SCCA SoloII autocross event. The season is about to begin.
Any of you that might be interested in seeing us, talking and watching us go should come on down anytime. There are small gaps in between runs where you can come to the infield of the course to park and watch.
Just remember to bring some water or drinks, a hat and some sunblock because it is hot. We will be there roughly 845am to 4pm or later.

As I sit here typing, my back is aching even after taking medication.
It's late and time to rest and maybe if things are looking up I will get a chance to drive.
Doing autocross is not just driving but volunteering at the event and being out all day or most of it.

OK, I gave autocross a try today and I want to thank a few people that helped me-
Randy for his advice and for walking the course with me.
mini-t for her advice on where to go and when.
Baronius for setting me up with my instructor Joey who was very helpful (he liked the smell of my lapis blue leather seats).
EriK for being there and giving me some advice on tire pressures
And finally a great thanks to RoyT for video taping some of my slow poke driving and for the great sushi for lunch-yum
I give no thanks to the many many mosquitoes that hatched in the tires from this week's rain and swarmed all over me and everyone else and sucked us dry for many hours and also no thanks to the hot sun that scared away all of the nice clouds and sizzled me up.
Overall I think I did OK. I was precise, followed a good line most of the time, wobbled some cones but never toppled any, didn't miss any gates or triangles, and had a safe trip. My MCS did fine in every respect, I just lack the skill needed to keep up with the numberous good drivers out there. More seat time needed as they say.
I watched and thought that all of the other MINI drivers did pretty well and drove smoothly. Even if their times were not as good as they might have liked. I thought that with our MINIs, we left others with a good impression.
We would love to see more MINIs out there. Both MC and MCS are very competitive in the stock classes.

nice seeing everyone again
besides the mosquitoes, gnats, ants, and sun, it was a fun day as always! the day was unusually LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG as the run-offs and the first run of the season were held back to back.
today's course was fun. i'm sad that i had to use my first run (74.xxx)....nobody told me i DNF'd the 2nd run (72.xxx)....and then i thought i heard DNF for the 3rd run (72.0xx) so i had to scramble to figure out if i did and then where i missed the gate. once i got that straightened out, i tried to go "***** out" and couldn't negotiate a turn after the chicane and ended up having to sloooooow down and crank the steering wheel but i still ran over the cone and then had to start back up and finish the course...i had a 76.xxx on this last run. heh. oh well, it was still fun. can't wait til next month
minihune -- glad you were able to finally run! now go convince the others to come.

I got the results from the March SCCA Solo 2 event.
Erik808 did a great job posting a 72.2 second run (he had consistent numbers from 72 to 74)
which was 1st out of 5 in his class STS. He was using for the first time Falken Azenis 205/50-15 tires on the advice of Baronius. His tires looked good and sticky.
STS class average 74.7
Kohu'ulaMINI posted a 71.9 in fierce competition in the H-stock class good for 4th out of 6. All of the H-stock drivers did well posting times from 70.6 to 73.3 seconds.
H-stock class average 72.1
mini-t posted a 74.1 good for 3rd out of 5. Her MCS had Kumho tires on stock 5 spoke rims.
CSP class average 74.1
I got 78.1 and had to leave one run early due to a prior engagement. In SM class I was 10th out of 12.
Out of 6 novice drivers overall, I was 2nd.
SM class average 70.9
Baronius drove his Subaru STi to 2nd out of 4 in 67.7 seconds
ESP class average 68.1
Congrats to all who drove.

runs 2 and 3 could've been good ones...dammit! oh well, i guess being 3rd in class after #2 and #4 overall isn't bad. heh. but i'm driving against myself and the inconsistencies of the organization. can't wait until next month

yep, i gotta agree it is far, far away. niu valley to my new work place at ewa beach across the elementary school is 30 miles one way. on a sunday, forget it. i already drive it 3x/week and 28 miles to wahiawa 2x/week. and that's only one way.
on a lazy sunday, i'd much rather go cruising around looking for some surf on the southeast side anywhere from diamond head to makapuu. or just go mini cruising with a few fellow motorers.
