Magazines Market "Mensa Mini"
From the national Mensa newsletter AML Today ...
"Full color, full-page ads of trading cards featuring the popular Mini-Cooper automobile have been licensed by American Mensa. These ads will be appearing in a variety of national magazines available by subscription and at newsstands beginning in September. The magazine campaign, worth in excess of $1 million, will bring Mensa positive press and create a presence among younger readers. The campaign features the Mini in eight different identities with names that begin with M - the "Mensa Mini" focuses on intelligent driving.
The cover dates and magazines include: October - Blender, Maxim, and Metropolis; Oct/Nov - Surface; November - Motor Trend and Wired; and December - European Car, Automobile, and Playboy. Watch for this exciting campaign!"
[end article]
Mensa has always had a problem recruiting younger members. I'm one of the youngest members in Mensa Hawaii local group, in my early 30's. Most members seem to be in their 50s or older.
Didn't you know you were smarter than the average bear for buying a Mini?

>>what is mensa?
In a nutshell:
What is Mensa?
Mensa was founded in England in 1946 by Roland Berrill, a barrister, and Dr. Lance Ware, a scientist and lawyer. They had the idea of forming a society for bright people, the only qualification for membership of which was a high IQ. The original aims were, as they are today, to create a society that is non-political and free from all racial or religious distinctions. The society welcomes people from every walk of life whose IQ is in the top 2% of the population, with the objective of enjoying each other's company and participating in a wide range of social and cultural activities.

This quiz is provided for entertainment purposes only; it is not an IQ test. This score will not qualify you for Mensa. The questions on the "Mensa Workout" are biased towards people whose primary language is English. Mensa offers culture-fair testing throughout the world. Many of the questions on the "Mensa Workout" require you to have a graphical browser. The test is still enjoyable for those with text-only browsers, but your overall score may be considerably lower than it might be with a graphical browser.
You have half an hour to answer 30 questions. Answers to the questions and discussion of the answers are provided at the time you submit your answers. While there is a 30-minute time limit to take the test, the amount of time you actually take in no way affects your final score. This is due to the differences in transmission times on the internet, and server loads. If you have metered access to the Internet, once the Mensa Workout page is fully loaded into your browser, if you wish, you may disconnect from the Internet. When you have completed the test, you can then reconnect to submit your answers and receive your score.

Thanks for the post. Intelligent driving? Good thought. Will do.
Mensa? Nice.

kbseto - I think that each car will have a name starting with "M", and all 8 will focus on intelligent driving.
Minihune - thanks for posting that info ... I wouldn't have been that elaborate.
2cool4school - I joined Mensa because I wanted to be able to use all the big words I know without activating the "dummy" insecurities of most of the people I know. While most people *are* capable of intelligent conversation, most are also deathly afraid of displaying that ability, for fear of being labeled "too smart for their own good." I wanted to meet people who are secure and confident with their intelligence, and most people in Mensa are just that.

Over pretentious is the way I’d describe them. Thinking their brain pan is larger than their bed pan. Common sense gives you a higher IQ rating than a silly puzzle every day of the week.
MINIangelD,
I would not worry much about any of this.
Thanks for making us aware in your initial post.
And besides with Latka being 6 feet 7 inches tall, we can ask him to be our enforcer/body guard as need be.
I watched the borrowed tape. Over and Over and Over. I thought the object was to "avoid" the cones? Oh well.
