The movie for September is Le Mans starring Steve McQueen.

September 10th is the date, barring any conflicts.

I will be on the Mainland most of the month and will miss this one (and Sadie! ) but MiniKahuna has the movie and I'm sure he and Aka will take care of everything.

In answer to other threads, I planned to get a website going on my own domain which someone could eventually take over and/or move later, as well as printing cards. Unfortunately, a knee problem has destroyed my concentration and I haven't done it. However, the trip to the Mainland is to see doctors, so hopefully, I can get to it soon.

With the current litigeous situation with Miniusa, should we call the club Hawaii SMALL Hui???

hi southseasadie -- thanks for the update. i also have my own website/hosting that we can use to host a temporary mini site. i am trying to start a small aftermarket parts and accessories distributorship (will be called 808motoring) to try to bring items to hawaii at a discounted rate...so far, the group buys are going well so hopefully we can get vendors to offer lower prices on other items.

if you need help with the cards, i can help. i have seen so many parked mini's in the past couple of days and each time i think to myself, dammit, i wish i had those cards.

Aloha Hui!

For those of you looking for MINI excitment, two events will be happening on Sunday September 14.

Thanks to Sylvia, The MINI and a Movie feature will be LE MANS at 11:00am.

Prior and during MINI and a Movie will be the first RCMCH race.

Time trails and races will be held in the MINI of Hawaii showroom, yes in the showroom, starting 10:30am.

Don't worry about any qualification, certification, or modification.

Just bring in your BIG or mini remote control MINI and batteries for lot's of fun and no prizes.

Donuts (not the kind you eat) will be allowed!

Thanks for the invite to the events.
One suggestion that was raised at the last Mini and a movie was to have our Hawaii "Cooper" club meeting before the movie just to get it all done then enjoy the movie. Otherwise people would have to stay till the end for the meeting.
How do others feel about that? Start with business then move to fun?

People are going to think we are nuts racing MINIs in the showroom. What if I do a doughnut and scratch my RC car?
Do you have touch up paint in my color? MINI red? How about a point to point race. Have a start line and a finish zone (10 inch strip), first to get to and park in the finish zone from 40 feet away. How about driving backwards? I'm good at that-I mean in my real car.

 

So, how many RC entrants are allowed for time trials?
I have 4 but can only control one at a time

 

what brand rc car is everyone that has one already bringing? just wondering. b

My son and I tried making a little race course (out of toilet paper rolls, cups and other household items) for our version of the Aloha 500 (we called it the McCully 500)....but after spending an hour making the track, we found that our mini rc's used the same frequency!!!! It was hilarious trying to drive our way around our make-shift track while controlling eachother's cars!!! Hopefully you folks won't run into the same problem!

Are there any model kits of Mini Coopers yet? I tried doing a Google search on ["mini cooper" model car kit], but got mostly real car websites. What few kits I did see seemed to be for the classic Mini.

Also, I have returned the Aloha 500 interview tape to the dealership, put it on Judy's desk, in a plain brown wrapper (just like I got it, only with your name on it this time :smile. Minihune was there when I dropped by, though, and he was eyeing the tape covetously, imho. Were you planning on loaning it to him next? I seem to remember you saying something about loaning it to someone else after me ... well, I told him you probably wouldn't mind if he took it home to watch it. Thanks again for loaning it to me.

It's 401am and I am done with the tape. I watched it 10 times. I slowed it down and studied each frame one by one and saw the orange cones squoshed with delight. Were they trying to run those things over?- Sure seemed like it.
Definitely the driving school helps you learn about your car and handling. Should come in handy if and when you need it. Perfect practice makes for perfect performance when you need it most- in accident avoidance. The MINI is plenty capable, just got to get our driving skills to match.

At dawn I will make preparations for the tape dropoff on Judy's desk sometime before 1600 under the cover of sunlight. :smile:

 

It's daybreak 608 and the video is signed sealed and ready to go out the door.
Oops, too early for the eurorally.
Will have to clean the wheels, vacuum, wash and wax the MINI, clean the engine compartment,
paint the front speaker grilles black and add chrome rings, gas up and wash all the other cars-two of them,
then go over to the rally. Oh yeah, take a nap too. Maybe finish watching Die Another Day in my spare time.
