MINI and a Movie
Our next event will be on Sunday, July 6, 2003 at 11 am. The movie will be the 1966 MGM film, Grand Prix, starring James Garner and Toshiro Mifune.
This is generally regarded as the definitive car racing film, as filming was done during the actual Formula 1 season of 1966, with most actual drivers at the time participating as drivers or advisors for the movie. Director John Frankenheimer has said this film could never be done today for insurance reasons--the actors trained and drove their own cars (F3 cars in F1 shells) in the film.

For a behind the scenes look at the making of the film and the cars and race courses used, see this article.
Judy mentioned something about pizza for this one.

Wonderful choice of movie- I may bring more people. I will bring my espresso maker and get started about 10am. I'll take custom orders. Then we get to sit down for the movie at 11am. Sounds like a plan. Thanks very much for setting this all up- Sylvia and Mini of HI!!!! I found some extra good coffee beans

A double shot!!! Yikes. Be careful what you ask for.
I have recently further refined my product and technique so that if you order an espresso, latte or cappucino you will not be dissappointed.
If you are still standing, you may ask for a second. May I suggest a touch of hazelnut, almond or vanilla?
Bottoms up!

Lights,Camera, and Lots of action for the showing of Gran Prix here at MINI of Hawaii on 7/6/2003.
Thanks to Sylvia for the DVD preview. The picture is perfect and the sound system should be roaring on Sunday.
Were looking for a great turn-out as usual.
Aloha,
MINIkahuna
Sadie's first birthday is Tuesday, July 1. I will do my best to bring a cake on Sunday (should go fine after pizza!) and you can all help me celebrate.
We tested the Grand Prix DVD on the MofH system yesterday and it should be really fine. There's not much in the world sweeter than the sound of a 1966 3-liter F1 car! Varrrooooooooom.

>>Sadie thanks everyone, especially Louie, who sent her a lovely card! She got a bath and a trip to the North Shore yesterday and will expect a lot of attention on Sunday.

>>We (MINI Ohana) miss you guys too.
>>BTW, 86 and 20mph tradewinds
And it is "nearly always" 86 with 20 mph tradewinds summer or winter, spring or fall.
"partly sunny with mauka and windward passing showers" Yeah Yeah, this is the forecast every day.
It's not like there are tornados or a need to shovel snow!
So...exchange this

Are you really going stock? I thought that was not for real.
No BMP intake and tower brace?
No 18" wheels and azenis parada 2 tires?
And no Borla exhaust off of the JCW kit MCS?
Are you getting the Lil Beast ready for sale?

Yes, to all of the above. After all, I don't want anyone to think the car has been driven hard or abused.
Plus, white lightning will be ready in a few weeks.

It's time to simplify my life and get rid of some of the toys. After talking to Judy and Darrel yesterday, maybe it's even time I think about settling down.
It's kind of difficult to haul around a family or clients in a MCS.

My family doesn't complain when I haul them around in my MCS! except of course when there are five of us. We can't seem to decide...who will ride "IN" the boot. The new amp gets kinda hot so it becomes sort of a sauna. But the bass sounds really good.
