Can we have a Gulf Coast get together?

Hey Soundwave and other Gulf Coasters...

My MINI should be ready for pick up on March 18th and I'm already feeling lonely here in Louisiana. There are no clubs or organizations here.

Why don't we have a Gulf Coast get together? I'm thinking Biloxi/Gulfport or Gulf Shores. Those are 3 and 6 hours away, respectively, for me and I'd be willing to make the trek.

Let me know if there is interest.

Matt

 Matt, I should be in your neck of the woods (or swamp, as the case may be), mid-April! Maybe some of the Panhandle MINI folk can motor over to Gulfport or somewhere for lunch? Ideas, everyone???

That sounds great to me. I'm only 4 hours from NO myself. Let me guess, you're getting it at Brian Harris. If not I'm sure that's where you'll go for service, I do.

I'll email Chris and have him rally the forces to see who's up for a road trip

Yo, Wavy, let's plan something, and get your BLU MENE serviced at the same time, perhaps?

That's what I was thinking. I'll be in Baton Rouge.

Houston

If you get bored with going east, try west: Houston

Hell if yall want to do Baton Rouge we can do that. It's only an hour for me. And yeah B. Harris is where I'm handling things. I am very unimpressed with them so far. In fact I may go out of State for my next MINI based on the happy stories I hear from other dealerships.

But yeah let's plan something. I'm free every weekend just give me some notice so I can make sure nothing comes up.

Glad to see people actually check this forum!

If Texans are welcome, there may be a few of us from Houston that would be up for a road trip.

Texans are more than welcome. Baton Rouge might be a good place since it's 5-6 hours from Houston and 5-6 hours from where Sndwave is (i think).

Sndwave...think your troops would be willing to come that far east?

Hey, where did everyone go? I know Sndwave is busy with his little girl so he is excused but the rest of you need to speak up as far as:

1. Where you'd like to meet (city)
2. How far you're willing to drive
3. When in April (or other month but april is best so Clo can come)
4. What you'd like to do
5. One day or two day affair

Maybe this will spur things along...

Seems kinda crazy to meet in BR when NOLA is only a 70 mile jump away and there is a hell of lot more to do there, as we all know Besides I would have to do it if I was making BR cuz after moving from there recently I need to say whazup to a few and hide from the rest

There is a mexican rest. I want to eat at in east BR

I'm game for the trip West.

MINIclo will be coming East in mid April. I have to get my MINI it's 30K service and I will be going to Brian Harris in Batton Rouge.

You know NO is only 40 min down the road and I hear it might be a party kind of town.

I'll pass on the NOLA pit stop or meet. Been there, done that and to be honest besides drinking there isn't a whole lot to do actually.

Let me know if y'all want to do it anywhere but there. Not holding you guys hostage...if you want to do NOLA by all means go ahead.

Panhandle MINIs has a car show at Bellingrath Gardens (Mobile, AL) on April 2nd and an all British car show at Pensacola Beach with a new MINI class on April 16th. April 23-24 is open. I wouldn't mind going to the MINI dealer in Baton R. and maybe stay the night and party at a hotel.

I don't really want to park my MINI overnight anywhere near Burbon Street. Last time I stayed over there the Hotel had mandatory vallet parking and they put my OTM (Other Than MINI) on an huge elevator to park it "upstairs".

It's funny that there is not a MINI club over in your area that has a local dealership?!? Maybe you should start one?

The one time I used them for my 15K service they were fantastic. But service departments change managers and I’m sure service may also.

I never dealt with the sales staff only the service people and I was treated great.

When it gets closer to April and I can lock down some kind of date I'll be going there for the recall and service. We can drive out together if you'd like. To spend the night is fine, but if I'm only in there a couple hours like last time, I'd rather get back on the road and power back home.

We've got to leave here (my house) by 2 AM in order to get there when they open at 7:30.

Their service department may still be great Sndwave...I was referring to their Sales staff.

Why do you come all the way over here for service? Are your dealers that bad?

Sounds like you don't want to meet in BR if you want to power home. Want to do it closer to your neck of the woods?

We DON'T have a dealer here! Brian Harris MINI IS the closeest one to us.

Brian Harris is 300 miles and just a few blocks off the interstate.
Tom Bush (Jacksonville) is 330 miles and you have to get off the interstate and drive across the entire town on the busiest street they have.
Atlanta 360 miles. They have two both are right off the beltway. Driving to Atlanta from here is a lot of back roads and small towns if you want to go directly.
Downtown (Orlando) is 405 miles. I was there last Saturday.
Tampa 440 miles.

Brian Harris is not only the shortest milage it's the fastest drive. I don't take my MINI to the dealer because I do all my own work, but I do like to look around and take pics of the new MINIs like I just did in Orlando.

Is the service department open on Saturday? So we would be going over on Friday and back on Saturday if we spent the night?

WOW! Totally did not realize there were no dealerships either in the panhandle or in MS & AL. That sucks.

Ok, so now I get why you come here. The Service Department is closed on Saturday and Sunday. I would then assume you guys will come in and get your cars serviced on Friday and then head home on Saturday.

We can either meet at the dealership Friday in the morning, afternoon or evening and then go out to eat or whatever. Saturday we could go for a drive or maybe take a run to the nearest plantation house to take some pics.

Whatcha thinkin'?

Yes I would love to do something around BR, but if I drive there to have a service preformed, I won’t have my MINI to motor about and there’s no telling how long it may take.

A Friday is just what I was thinking and hope they finish up fast. I have the two recalls to be preformed and I’ll have the oil changed while I’m there because it’s a free change.

We could still do something Friday night and early Saturday, but will have to be on the road by midday.

Remember Chris you say 300 miles like you don’t plan on coming back. That’s 600 miles to Brian Harris the nearest dealer.

Maybe because Houston is 600 miles and Dallas is 700 miles one way. Keep in mind SndWave & myself are in Fort Walton Beach/Destin, FL (between Pensacola and Panama City).
