GP2 vs JCW Suspension

Hi

From my research the R56 JCW has front and rear ride heights of 588mm/572 and the GP2 is 564/555 (measured using 17" wheels). That's almost 1" drop on the front and another thread I read (https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...on-travel.html) indicates somewhere around 2" of jounce on the JCW (so around 1" on the GP2). Does the GP2 really have that little suspension travel? Does it exhibit a lot of bump steer? I can't find different part numbers for the hub/spindle for the JCW and the GP2 so I assume the strut towers/body shell is different between them. Is this the case?

Can anyone confirm that the strut towers are different or if there is something I've missed?
Thanks

The GP2 has adjustable Bilstein coil overs, which gives it the lower ride height. The two suspensions are completely different.

As for the strut towers... The GP2 has wider slots in the towers to achieve more front camber.

As stated above, GP2 has different strut towers with adjustable camber, and different overall suspension geometry. Can confirm there is no bump steer. It’s a well engineered suspension and you can definitely push it hard with confidence.

Thanks for the reply, I know it's on height adjustable coilovers but wouldn't lowering it an inch mess up the steering arm geometry (since theres no changed parts)?

The reason I ask is because I have an R56 JCW and I lowered it 10mm above the GP2 ride heights and the bump steer is very pronounced, I have to run the dampers very soft especially at the front otherwise it's way too darty

If you haven’t had an alignment performed, do that first. Also, tire sizes and tread patterns can cause the car to follow any grooves in the road. My can is lower than GP2 specs, and tracks nice and straight.

Hi, Can you please confirm where you got these values from ? I have a GP2 that I'm trying to get registered but go knocked back because it was too low. I'd like to set the car up to factory height but can't find those values anywhere.

Also should it be Rear 561 / Front 555 ? Where is this measured from/to ? I thought they sat higher in the rear ?

thanks

The proper shop procedure for measuring ride height is “Attach tape measure to bottom middle of rim flange and measure to lower edge of wheel arch”

Measure it in that manner, the factory specs for the GP2 on the OEM wheels are:
Front - 564mm
Rear - 555mm

When measured at the fenders, the rear is slightly lower than the front. But if you stand back and look at the body lines and side skirt, the rear is slightly higher than the front.
