Anyone running 215/35R18 on their GP?
Thanks for the info much appreciated. I need tires now and wanted a size up since tire brand options are kinds of limited for the 40 series in the 205. And I dont like cheap brands that's why nor runflats.
I had the Toyo T1R installed on stock wheels with no spacer and they did not rub on the inside or outside. I now use the stock wheels with 15mm spacers. I installed the Hankooks after I installed the 15mm spacers. Both the Toyo and Hankook tires rub on the outside with the spacers (required a little wheel arch and wheel well liner trimming).

I believe about Post #3 in the thread.

Thanks for the information. As you probably know the tires available for the 18" wheels is getting smaller all the time. I will probably get one more summer out of the Michelin PS2's and then have to find a substitute as that size
205/40 is no longer made.
I have been looking at the Hankook's. How do you like the 215 size in that brand and do you feel that they would fit without rubbing like the Toyo's did? I would prefer not to run spacers unless I had to.
Thanks, Steve

I have had 215/40-18 Toyo T1R and now have Hankook Ventus V12 EVO.

Steve,
I believe the Hankook 215/40-18 will fit the stock GP wheels without spacers and with no rubbing because based on manufacturer numbers the section widths are the same. The amount of negative camber you run might make a difference because the rub will be at the inside so here is what I run; Front -2.1 deg and rear -1.6 deg.
From what I recall I had around a pencil width of clearance with the 215/40 T1Rs.
In general I liked the Toyo T1R better but it was difficult to obtain last time I needed tires so I switched to the V12. However, the V12 is a good tire so far. I mainly do street driving and have done one Auto-X with the V12s. I think the T1R performed slightly better at the very tight (lower speed) Auto-Xs that I have attended.

Thank you for the information. I had noticed that the section widths were identical but some times they have a different way of measuring the same thing.
Did you notice the slight difference in gearing because of the increase in oal diameter? It is only .400 in diameter which would equate to a little more than 3/16 in thread depth. I can't say that I notice a difference between a fresh set of tires and ones that are ready for replacement.
Thanks again, Steve
