The car looks very nice but the price seems a little on the high side. I have seen lower prices with less miles but of course it depends on the local car prices.
I also see from the photos that the car has a TSW engine damper. Does it have other mods? Mods might adjust the price up or down depending on your thoughts about a modified car.

It is hard to price the GP. I would look at the current selling prices for 06 MCS JCW cars in your area. Maybe check Kelly Blue Book pricing. I would argue with the dealer that the GP should sell for about the same price. The GP sold for less than JCW cars but it is a special edition so it could hold its value better. You can also argue that this special edition car has been modified so that actually lowers its value.
Personally, I do not see the GP as an investment/collector car. Especially the one you are looking at with higer mileage. If you are going to race a Mini, I would suggest starting with something other than a GP because you are going to heavily modify the car for racing. If by racing you mean take it to a few track days then the GP would be a good choice.

If you can aford it, why not??? I can assure you that you won't regrete it every time you get to drive it! Be ready for some extra road noise because a lot of sound deading materal has been removed to save weight.

In general the GP could be a good collector car but I would suspect it would require a low mileage car and you would have to keep it a long time. I know I brought mine to drive hard and I do not expect it to have much collector value.
However, the GP is a great car as long as it meets your needs. I like my GP better than my modified MCS. The GP was ranked in the top 5 of Motor Trends best handling cars.
I added sound insulation in the rear to make it a little quieter for long trips.

hmmm the prices you guys are saying in the 20,000-30,000 makes me wanna buy one tomorrow.

In the future, even previously modified first gen MINIs with their OE parts put back will be considered original. Replacement parts would not affect the originality, as long as those parts were made by BMW and sold as new during the car's product life-cycle (in production, and spare part support.)
I've been watching some classic car shows and "original" basically means that the car is intact with period body work (sometimes excluding paint), period OE drive train, and period replacement parts bought during the car's product life-cycle. Cars with past accidents that occurred during the product life-cycle utilizing OE parts in the repair are still original.
Now when BMW stops spare part support, some aftermarket company will take over making replacement parts. When these parts are added to a MINI, it will cease to be original.
It can be related to the muscle cars of today. You can basically build a new one from just a shell with all the new spare parts available. But it is not an original car.
There may be exceptions or amendments to the above words, but with a high volume, highly modifiable, highly customizable car like the MINI, I believe it will hold true. There could even be confusion as to whether certain parts were OE or not because nearly everyone has them, i.e. s/c pulley, strut reinforcement plates, etc.
The point of all of this? A slightly modified GP or any MINI for that matter should have no effect in the long term value.

zone occassionally. Is this ok.. it doesn't sound like he was a sunday driver.... ?? Just lookin into the background of this mini!! and its history on the road... I don't want a wore out horse...

The GP - and all MINIS - are built for driving as sports cars. The redline is above 7K, and the engine prevents exceeding redline.
Adding such like TSW engine damper and auto-up suggests the owner added good extras, not just adding things for no good reason.

I'd say don't worry about the cars longevity, the owner sounds like it was treated fine. I'd just worry how the price went from $22K to $26K.

dealers always dream... not sure if they are a no negotiating dealer.. We just had one here in Phx with 8k miles on it.. not sure what they got for it.. but i think i could have got it for 24k or less,,, but they wouldnt give enought for our bmw on trade. So we didnt buy it. Realistly at this point.. it is a 06 cooper s with a JCW kit to a dealer.. yea, its rare, but when they take it in, Its just a cooper S.. Mini N Scottsdale told me they wouldnt give me more then 19k for mine. Because it is really just a cooper S. (The KBB finally has it in the paper copy books, but with no value adds attached, since there has not been enough turnover on the yet.).That was 5 months ago with 23k miles.. I didnt really want to trade it, but wanted to prove a personal point about the value of them.. ( I use to wholesale cars, so I know the game )

In the Mini would, yea, its worth a little more.. in the real world, it a used mini that looks really cool..I you pay 25k for it, and for some reason you need to trade it in a couple months or so,, in REAL $'s, you will not get more the 18-19k for it.. Now, in the private community, yes, you will get more..so if you buy and sell in the same forum ( the private sector ) you can make it worth it..

I know this GP it was never hit and I'm the post Quickmini was refering to on the GP website. The car was taken care of and back in Nov-Dec time he was trying to get a quick sale for around 22k but since then it is now at a dealer and price went up. BTW the car was never hit or damaged and always serviced at dealer.

I would think, coming from the car world in general, that ANY limited production car, with a set number like "2000" is going to be very collectible.

I own a Triumph Speed Triple in Roulette Green. Its a 2007. Doing a quick search says that 35,000 were sold since 93. Now that s a huge number. But how many are Roulette Green? That number goes down. How many have been crashed or otherwise destroyed? In 20 years will they be hard to find? Does that make it collectible? Probably not, but I sure do enjoy riding it, and the attention it gets wherever I go.
The truth is EVERYTHING is collectible to someone. How many GPs are still around? How many are still in origonal form? I bet its going to take DECADES less time for the GP to be a rare vehicle than it will my Speed Triple. Will you get $100K for it in 20 years, probably not. There's a very few cars that can pull this off, will you still be able to hold onto it and sell it for $15K-20K once there's only a few left? Probably.

GP 0001 was kept by MINI, but the first GP sold - 0002 - was not kept for long by the owner!
