Any GPs in Philadelphia area?
The only one I know is Garylimey, but he's in Jersey, closer to NYC I think. He's got a sweet GP though, pretty well modded. Actually now that I think about it I saw some kids driving a GP up near my mom's in the suburbs just north of Philly recently.
that was a nice group of people last time

Well, my GP0019 just arrived last Friday from California. Spoke to MINI MainLine they said there was several in Philly (that had the same paint flaking off issue as mine). It will be keeping its California plates eventhough in Philly, PA.

Philly GP Run
Congrats!!!!! A very fun car.
Currently, in CA (AMVIV) I drove it out 2500 miles to Las Vegas and California, will return sunday. We should do a drive one weekend. My GP misses CA nice roads (both twisties, no pot holes in town, smooth highways compared to PA). I will post some video of GP on track at AMVIV Phil Wicks event.

a gp in philly is the worst decision ever! i am looking for another car bmw 325is 89 or 94 for philly, i am keeping the gp in storage. the two reasons i say this is first philly or pennsylvania for that matter has the worst roads in the united states (really third world conditions) having spent time in iraq, philly roads remind me of iraq, pot holes in philly remind me of the scared war torn streets left by iud's. i know its not the winters, cause nevada, ill, conn, washington state, oregon, upstate ny, md, both both virginias have first world roads. i have damaged the front end 3 times and the jcw suspension is sounding funny. the second reason is bad "parallel parkers" or a combonation of really careless drivers with bad parellel skills. i noticed that i already have a dent in the rear and three (yes 3) paint chips in the front of the gp. one of them is actually a gash into the plastic of the front bumper. if you love your cars don't get a gp in pa, get a geo metro or something you won't give a hoot about. ok a third one is (if you don't have a garage) there are no rentals in pa with a car garage, i thought every home is supposed to have a car garage. street parking! gee gosh darn it! thats my rant.

I have to agree with most of what you said. Things aren't quite so bad in the western burbs, but I still spend a lot of time dodging bad road work. Currently looking for 17" wheels an non runflats to improve the ride a bit. Saving the 18's for the track.

sorry moderators i rewrote it without the capital letters. sorry, if i offended anyone with the all caps, i didn't mean to i started typing and did not notice it was in all caps until i was almost done. again, i did not intend for it to be "strong" with the caps. also i am very sorry about the "s" word (fecal matter) i thought i could get away with it by putting the exclamation point (!) in place of the i, but i guess i was wrong. again sorry if i offended anyone with my vulgar language. it was just that i have spent so much on reapairs rather than mods because of the road conditions in pa that i said the "s" word. again, i am very very sorry about that mistake i made. i wont do it again. no more "s" words or any bad bad words and no more caps.
oh btw i put 17s too with nitto neogen tires to deal with the horrible roads in pa.

I've never even talked with anyone there......but it just seems to me that they 'price' their cars at a premium.
(I'm trying to be nice.....)
Maybe they wheel and deal.......but the prices they post do seem very high to me.

Haha, welcome to Illadelphia. I suggest heading over into South Jersey, they have some proper roads, or at least better. But yeah Philly is hell on a car, I bent two of my 17" OE Minilites the first year I had the car. You have two options, garage it, or move out into the burbs, because parking a car on the street will ruin it, no way around it. When I finished college one of my buddies got a new Mitsu Eclipse for a graduation present, within 3 years every panel on the car, other than the roof was damaged. One night at a party at my house we heard a loud crash, went outside to find his car had just been sideswiped by a hit & run. Dented & scratched the whole length of the car, and the mirror was hanging by the wires. I keep my car way out in the suburbs, way out, in a garage, it never goes into the city anymore, the Honda gets to suffer through that. And yes the Honda now has a basketball sized dent in the rear quarter panel.

Yeah GP got side swipped in King of Russia Mall too, just monday. It needs new bumper cover, hood (bonnet), fender trim piece, and reflector. Got hit on Front right side. I am clicking my heals wishing I was in California. Actually, rewriting my resume.
btw, the only gp i've seen in philly is your ride up on a lift at helix when i had my pulley put in. i'd garage it if at all possible. i live in the burbs and have had none of your issues. btw, i lived in the city for 15 years before moving out here....i had a vespa and loved it!
hope to bump into you soon (sorry for the bad pun!)
I saw GP0322 on the PA turnpike Sunday following a Porsche on a trailer. First GP I've seen out on the roads.
howsoonisnow1985,
In and around Philly itself, the roads are horrible. Further away they're just bad.
I don't understand why PA roads are such crap when all you have to do is cross over into Delaware or Maryland and the roads are excellent.(generally speaking)
Sorry to hear about your mall experience. I usually try to park my S out in the middle of nowhere near an island so its somewhat protected from those people always cutting through the lot at 60mph.
