Question about rear seats on GPs

I've never actually driven in a GP but from what I've read I would love to get my hands on one. My question is how "usable" are the rear seats. I know they are removed but is there still room enough to fit someone in the back in a situation where someone needs a ride. I don't mind having a two seater but I'd like to have the ability for more if necessary (I don't care about the passengers comfort).

Thanks for all your responses...

PS - Anyone know the insurance differences between MCS and MC GP? MCS was very low when i check on it last month. Thanks.

They are lacking seat belts, and any form of a seat if I understood correctly. In many states , this obviously wont be legal.

Great for hauling though!

There is room enough for someone to seat/lay on the back floor and hold onto the luggage bar. The rear seats are replaced with a flat floor and a luggage bar that crosses (side-to-side) the rear compartment about a foot behind the front seats. Thus, there is just a flat floor behind the front seats where someone could seat/lay.

Hope you don't care about the person who suppost ride in the back because he /she won't be your friend after riding in the back.. .

My insurance company treats the GP like the other two MINIs

It is possible to add a rear seat. It has been done by a GP owner and I believe there are pics of his GP on the GPMINI.net site.

Yes, Brent added rear seats to his GP - and did it very well. But it takes effort to do properly, including seat belts.

the GP's really do not have a usable rear seat area, since there are no seats. it's like putting all your friends into a cargo van. they have a place to sit, but hold on. it has been done, like it's been said, that you can add a rear seat, but it takes a lot of work. for the added work, you could by any cooper S and add some go fast items and have the same performance. but the GP is a vary nice car.

The bar in the back is a great place to hook the dogs to with there safety harness. Thay love a drive. When I got mine the owner sat in the back with her legs under the bar and feet in the rear foot wells, no head room though.

seats out

I have a S cooper and removed the seats to give me more room for stuff to go into the back. I purchased all the GP parts and I love it. If anyone wants the seats that came out of my 06 maybe we can make a deal.

Seats - GP Owner Interested

I may be in the market for all your rear seats and rear seat belts including the mounting brackets. What color are your rear seats?
