NO! I have to sell my car - my MBA said so

****EDIT****
I have put up a post in the For Sale Section. Please check it out guys

oh boy fellas, i think the time has come. im starting my Masters program a little earlier than I expected - in January!! so the time has come. i swore i would never sell this car because I will regret it. i am already regretting it as i type this. the last "rare" car my family had, we sold - a '98 Integra Type-R and it still haunts us to this day!! I wanted to start my personal collection of dream cars and the GP was the 2nd addition (I'm NEVER gonna let my '85 Corolla go - i sold my '87 and sellers remorse made me get another one)
i had an '05 Coop S and after owning that car I fell in love with Mini's.
ive been going over all the ways i could keep the car but its not adding up.
I just moved into my first house that I am renting to buy so those payments are only going to get more expensive when i eventually mortgage the place.
my MBA is going to cost ~ $24k and i realize that I will earn more money after i complete this education (and I could afford to keep the GP) however its gonna be a strain on me for the next 18 months.
I have also been thinking about other great cars that are going to come out over the next 18 months and though they can't replace the GP they are going to be awesome automobiles like the new STI, new EVO, new M3, 135i, 135 Tii, used 911 GT3 (996) this is my ultimate dream car.
the GP ended up costing me about $39k and though i think its worth every penny, my mature side - the same side pushing me to do this MBA is telling me that in 18months when I have completed my MBA $39k could get me an awesome everyday car. i currently drive a '93 accord daily but im really tired of that car. the Mini is a "weekend / 2nd car" and being only 2 years out of school i am not making that much money and "more important" things are calling.
well i guess i just wanted to vent. let me know what you guys think, anyone sell their GP for "important" reasons - did you feel it was worth it? i feel like taking this step is going to lead to bigger (lol - literally) and better things

Do you need the $ for school? Do you have title or making payments?
The most cost effective way to own cars is to buy them and drive them 'til they drop. Then again most of us aren't all about cost effectiveness.
Good luck with the decision!

Good points Eric. I figure its a liquid asset - even though i just checked and see about 4 other GP's in the For Sale section - darn the market is saturated!
I have the title in hand so that would make a sale a little easier (i hope)
I figure that i could get a couple thousand more than what it will cost me to attend school.
i need to pay for school as well as some other bills that I have. I don't feel like I am in a position to fully enjoy living in my first house with so much money sitting out in the driveway!
I see many asking right around $30k for their clean cars and low miles with what seems like little interest. i had in mind to ask the same amount with the stock and aftermarket wheels as well as the other items ive purchased with some wiggle room to come down a little in price to seal the deal. its super clean w/ 7k miles (oil changed at 3k miles and before a sale i will have the oil changed again as well as an alignment)
this is a tough predicament

Gee. I'd ditch the Accord and drive the MINI! Student loans are at a low enough interest rate that it might pay you to think about that route instead of selling a car you don't want to sell.
Good luck!
Good luck!
YEAH kick the Honda out and keep the GP. Or at least sell it for more money. I think the 30K is a giveaway. This is THE car for collectivity (other than the Canadian semi-equivalent) and it is SO kool! You can ALWAYS get an educations an a Honda later!
Just busting your chops, but I hope you can find an alternative and keep the car!
Good luck!

psssh. Keep it. The canadian equivalent? what equivalent, all we got was jcw cars with aerokits and the steering wheel with shift and ebrake ***** and boot and bbk. Hardly an equivalent to the GP. I was very upset. I dont want an s, and never really did, but i would have bought a GP, just for the collectivity of the beast. (then again, i am a car collector, i cant help myself). Id sell the house and live in the mini (im not kidding either, i was going to move to england, buy a exige and live it it, just so i could buy one with rhd and import it). hahah. Some say i should be committed. Beecher
I have a better solution. Put off your MBA for 6 months to a year. find a job that will pay for your MBA and then get an executive MBA (Or PMBA). That way you have zero debt, you have an in with a company that has a vested interest to keep you, and you have the GP. Of course what do I know.... I am still 80k in debt from law school

From someone who is old, and paid off student loans "only" about 9 years ago.
But it was worth it...I just won't admit it publically.
1007...
my oldest daughter went to work for Baptist Health Systems right out of FIU... she got a killer position.... after a year they will reimburse 75% of your MBA expenses, she just last month finished the Nova- MBA program, so she didn't have to part with anything to do it.
JH
PS- for that tidbit i'll take the mini as referrral fee

My company pays 100% of any education, and no commitment to work for them once you are done, and we are hiring like crazy...its aerospace industury, in case you really wanted to keep the car
LOL. thanks for all the ideas guys.
THis one sounds the best!!
My company is doing great by me - they are paying for half of my MBA. I came out of Undergrad with $0 loans so that was the only way I was able to get the GP in the first place! So im gonna follow that same route, give up some of my prized possesions, take my **** back to school, then be making some nice money when im done! Can you say White 4 Door M3 on Advans!!!

whatever path you choose, good luck
I'm hoping to start on my PMBA next fall or spring '09. I was lucky enough to get a job at the company I co-op'd for 3 semesters as an undergrad and one of the terms for signing on full-time was them paying for a PMBA. Once you're done with school for good, it'll be worth it
think about it this way
As much as your car is awesome. When you are making more money because you are owing Sallie Mae less money, imagine the sweet ride that you can buy then.
I love MC. All of them. But I wouldn't be honest if I said I never liked getting behind the wheel of porsche or lotus. Besides someone is always selling these things - human nature.
G'luck with school.
