87 Octane is $4.35 by me right now. I haven't even check what 89 or 91 is. I think Im scared too. I haven't put anything over 87 in my MC in a long time. I figure it runs just fine on 87.

If it's any consolation, there is a battery shortage for hybrids.
...Battery shortages are crimping supplies of the Ford Escape Hybrid and Toyota Prius, two of the top-selling hybrids.

Prius sales dropped 37.5 percent in May to 15,011 compared with May 2007. Combined sales of the Escape Hybrid and its stablemate, the Mercury Mariner Hybrid, dropped 26.0 percent to 2,378 last month. ...

Bob Carter, the head of Toyota's U.S. operations, said limited supplies hobbled Prius sales.

"A year ago, our supplies were at record level in Prius," he said. "Now we're in that catch-up mode."

Toyota couldn't ramp up battery production fast
enough to build enough Priuses to meet demand, Carter said. ...

It looks like the Denver area has some of the least expensive prices for gas. I just passed the gas station and it was $4.07 for 91 oct at a Diamond Shamrock.

Looks like SC, MO, and OK are the cheapest at the moment. NJ used to be pretty cheap too, but apparently not anymore...

MINI Owners don't have to worry about filling up the tank till past 5.70$ a gallon if you are using a credit card (75$ limit and that).

I was quite surprised yesterday to find that gas was $4.779 when I filled up Shawn for the first time. It was $60 for the tank. We'd been away for 2 weeks and this happens, it was $4.329 2 weeks ago.

The pump I go to says that but it actually cuts off at $100.

This pump cuts off at $1000. Oof!

Can you say HYPERMILING ? Experience the awe consuming boredom of driving.
I filled up Winnie yesterday for $4.099 for 93O. Total $55.00 - 13.418 Gal.
The great news is that trying all of the Hypermiling hype I almost pushed 450 miles on one tank of fuel. Boring? Yes! Wierd look from other motorist? You bet! Especially heavy footed people behind you that are use to jackrabbit starts. Light turns green | jam it to the floor.
I needed a big badge on the back of Winnie - HYPERMILING EXPERIMENT UNDER WAY - DO NOT TAILGATE

Try it and see what MPG you get.
1. NEVER EVER drive aggressively! That's a killer in a MINI.
2. Slowly accelerate but never above 2000 RPM's.
3. Use you Cruise at any speed.
4. Drive the Speed Limit or a couple of mph less. That's a limit, not a starting point.
5. Coast as much as possible. Downhill or easing up to a traffic light. Not in heavy traffic where you must stay in control.

I'll never be a Nempiamaniac (no that's not nemphomaniac) but it does take a mind set and a lot of pateints to drive like that all of the time.
