I guess this is "Minis in general" since while Motor Trend May issues lists the Mini Cooper S as one of the 10 Hip buys under $399 per month (boy, that's a sign of the times for affordability!), the listing is a 2007 MCS, but the photos are of a R53. Ooops...
Oh, well, no one will take offense in this community, I hope.

 

How can a magazine with their reputation get these 2 cars mixed up, i was reading that last night and it seemed that this writer didnt have a clue about which MINI he/she was talking about......where was the editor on that one?

 

Motor Trend seems to get a lot of the facts wrong on many of there write ups so I stay with C/D and R/T.

Ever since MT made the Chevy Caprice the 1991 Car of the Year, I stopped reading it. I was 11 at the time, and I knew how stupid that was.

 

The Vega was a Car of the Year as well... 1974 maybe? (of course that's before most of you were born! ;-) )

 

Just for the record... i had nothing to do with that article. I didnt even se eit untill i saw this tread... nice catch!

 

Newsweek did something similar, saying that the '07 MCS is supercharged.

 

That's what you get when you hire writers that can drive cars, rather than drivers who can right, rite, err, write that is....

 

I think it was 1972. By 1974, everyone knew how terrible it was.

 

Motor Trash, Rodent Track and Car & Dealer are most useful for their photos and letters to the editor sections. Besides the dubious nature of the reported details, their affinity for certain cars curiously seems to parallel the sources of their advertising revenues. After all, they aren't making their money from the 60 cents an issue they charge subscribers.
