Mr. SCMSC, no offense intended.
I'm just poking fun at all the lurkers who derive meaning from waiting for their special #s in this "EXCLUSIVE club".

I shouldn't poke fun at others, though. Heck, I hardly even cared what options were installed on my Mini.
I just waited (for over three years of Mini production) to get exactly the vehicle identification number I wanted.

When are we going to get a chance at some stickers. The red oval Nam with a number would be great.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to be a bit of a scrooge here and throw in my opinion on this entire "MMC" idea. I've been periodically opening this thread, reading a few posts, shaking my head and moving onto other threads. I just have to ask the basic question...

What's the point? Seriously, I have yet to see any real reason to participate. The number is arbitrary, and it's not as though being "in" MMC has any benefit whatsover beyond putting the number into your signature. There are no newsletters, no separate meetings or gatherings, no special discounts or benefits.

If people are looking for a sense of individuality with their own unique number, well... guess what, you already have that - it's your NAM username, and it's the most unique and individual way to identify yourself here on NAM, something that will remain yours and only yours, not to be confused with anyone else.

If people are looking for bragging rights, because their number is lower than someone else's... I'm sorry, but that's just childish and honestly, quite pathetic.

I don't mean to ruin anyone else's fun (although if I'm ruining your fun, you have bigger problems - people should be responsible for their own sense of "fun"), and I'm a pretty easygoing, friendly guy (as I'm sure those here who have met me will attest), but again, I simply have to ask...

WHY?

To borrow from good fellow man (and DCMM president) Michael Babischkin (mbabischkin)'s signature, "I am not a number! I am a free man!"

Edge

P.S. No, I'm not trolling... I really am perplexed by the whole idea.

I did it just for fun. Why not - it's not hurting me or anyone else, it's NAM and MINI related and probably unique.

Who's to say this won't grow to something larger? To include online meetings, sharing photos, stickers, t-shirts, mailing around stuff - who knows.

Those are some of my reasons.

Oh, and the fact you got in REALLY early, with "bragging rights" #3, has nothing to do with it?

Note that I didn't say you WERE actually bragging, just that the number you got in with does play to that reason for it.

I saw this thread when there were still single digit numbers, but I didn't go in then either.

It just feels to me as though this is some attempt to supercede and possibly replace the NAM identity, which, I attest, is a pointless venture. If you talk about it "growing" into something more like that, then I vouch it does indeed start to compete with our NAM usernames.

I HEREBY RELINQUISH ANY AND ALL MMC NUMBERS!

If you want to play that game, SCMCS, then your first post in this thread should have dictated your number a long time ago. Oh, it's not available any more? Oh well, I guess you just gave yourself 233 then, since I didn't want to do this, and you clearly do want to be part of it.

So, so silly.

Nope - I would've "joined" in at any time.

If there's a number I'd want to brag about, it would be number 64. Because that's what number my MINI was in the state of MN.

I consider my MMC#199 to be my NAM vin... Just another way to show my pride as a mini owner and my addiction to NAM... I don't care for shirts, hats, etc just the fact that being the same is also being different.... Go find yourself a FTC (Ford Taurus Club)
