TPMS Sensor

My tire pressure warning light has pop on a few times, and I am almost certain it is the tire sensors. The tires are 1 week old. I have checked the tires’ pressure, reset the code, and the warning returned today. Did a visual inspection and no signs of damage, punctures, or nails. I reviewed the maintenance records, and it appears my 2007 MCS is still using the original TPMS.

Where are you guys/girls buying your TPMS?

I buy mine from ECS Tuning and have had no issues, but that's for the newer 2018+

What were the tire pressures when you checked? For each tire...

The Vehicle Status display shows the detected tire pressures, do they agree? Also that display will highlight any tire that worries the TPMS system, which tire(s) were highlighted?

Cheers,

Charlie

All of the tires are set at 38 psi. The display only showed the low tire pressure symbol, and I do not believe my MCS (2007) can indicate individual tire pressure. I have that feature on my 2022 Maverick. I have reset the code a few times, and it will remain off for 1-2 days and then return.

Did you purchase the aftermarket version from ECS? Any problems?

Unless you're planning to install them yourself, I would buy them from the tire shop you plan to have install them. They're all more or less the same, so I wouldn't recommend shelling out for OEM sensors.

That's what I'd do. On my 2019, I bought them from ECS tuning to put on new Neusport Wheels and installed the TPMS sensors myself, then took the wheels to have tires mounted/balanced. The TPMS system recognized the new sensors, and all has been well since (about a year).

are you sure you have 'active sensors'?

My 2007S had the ABS based system, NOT active sensors ...... they changed during the 2007 model year. When my car came off the truck some cars had sensors and some were like mine . . . .

answer for your issue is different for sensors versus not . . .

a decent tire place should have a tool - sort of a special scanner - that can check active wheel sensors. The batteries do wear out and typically not replaceable . . .

if you are on the ABS based system the problem is probably a wheel speed sensor . . .
