Clutch slipping under hard acceleration

Hello everyone!
I think i know what i have to do already but i thought id get some insight before i start tearing into it. So my car is a 2004 R53, my engine mods are 15% sc pulley,2% crank, DT bpv, Dinan cold air intake, Borla exhuast and the VGS mod. I installed a Valeo Clutch a couple years ago and have less then 10k miles on it. Lately ive noticed a slipping feeling under hard acceleration.Well this morning driving to work i went through 1st thru 3rd accelerating pretty hard and it was slipping through each gear so i backed off.

I accelerate from a roll, i never pop the clutch when feeling frisky. It seem to only slip when driving with the foot to the floor. So with this information whatcha guys think? Do i need to replace the clutch? :(

Thank you to all the people that has provided awesome info on this site!
Steve

Have a look for any oil at the small holes at the bottom of the bell housing, you may have a rear crankshaft oil seal leak which could contaminate your 'young' clutch plate and cause symptoms. In the absence of that, then yes, your clutch is going out again.

Floor it but not until you get to 4th gear. If your revs go up but your car doesn't accelerate, you can bet it's your clutch. Seems odd though after only 10k miles. Did you also replace the flywheel and pressure plate?

I'm with you. I just replaced my clutch with a Valeo unit and it was a ton of work. I also replaced the rear engine seal so I'm hoping it's "sealed" correctly!

Feel your pain, I did my clutch in October and have an oil leak from the new crank seal. Small no dripping but I know it is there so have to go back in, and yes, ton of work.

Yuck not fun! Haha! So yesterday i did what Cooper said and i didn't feel any slipping in 4th gear. I dont have my boost gauge hooked up yet but could it be a boost leak that would give a feeling of clutch slippage? Just trying to look at other problems that could be wrong before i tear into her haha.

Thanks again for your help

I'll throw my two cents in ... I understand it is less than 10K miles since the clutch replacement, but it is slipping ... I also see it is a 2004, so my concern would be slipping is due to oil leakage onto the clutch. I would ask if the rear crank seal replaced when the clutch was done? It would have been a false economy not to do it when it was exposed during the service.

Double check for oil leakage, and if you can inspect the clutch, this might be your issue.

Best of luck.

Motor On!

To quote Cooper48 from previous post "I also replaced the rear engine seal" He has no oil showing at lower bell housing either.

I haven't had a chance to mess with the little bugger right now. The rear main seal was replace at the same time as the clutch,no oil leaks. After i get my home improvements out of the way ill get messing more with the mini.

Thank you for the replies
