1) What year did they start with the puddle lights in the bottom of the doors? My '04 R53 does not have them, but my '06 R52 JCW does have the lights
2) Will the Gen 2 or Gen 3 lights fit into my '06 car? Mine has just a regular 194 bulb, I have ordered a set of LED bulbs for all the interior lights, glove box, & trunk light, but I wanted to get a pair of puddle lights off a newer car that has the "MINI" logo for my R52......pictures below with the lens measurements for reference from the lights in my car
3) I would like to put the lights in my '04 car, is the wiring there for the lights?
On go badges you would need to trim the old ones like this if you have the opening on an 7/2004+. On Pre 7/2004 you would have to trim out a rectangle like the one on your R52.
Thanks for the info, my '04 R53 was made 10/03, so I guess there's no wiring in the doors for the lights. I may not bother putting them in the doors because of the hassle of running wires to connect them.
I found a pair of lights on eBay that have the JCW logo project on the ground, but they say that they are for Gen 3 cars, but the pictures look close to the same size as mine in the '06 car. Maybe I will take a chance, I asked the seller for measurements, no reply yet.
Welcome. Just watch those third party MINI fits ebay sellers. They dont know MINIs or fitments, so they just sling stuff on ebay hoping to sell. Half the time they might not even know how to help.
Good luck and I hope you can get one to fit. Also, those logos are not licensed by MINI. so in time, they might not be around on ebay if BMW group get ahold of them. Just a heads up.
ECS, yes, I understand about the eBay stuff from overseas....its usually a crap-shoot about getting the correct parts for most any car out there, let alone the MINI..... I have not heard back from the seller, and I have not pulled the trigger yet on getting a set, I have way to many things going on here right now to worry about the little lights
