I recall seeing a post or two about these puddle lights, but I can't find the exact ones right now (on my phone) - from what I recall they didn't fit exactly and needed a bit of modification to get in there.

If anyone has found any which don't require mods (like shaving off a bit here and there)... plug and play only...

Please do let us (me) know!

Here is a previous thread on the lights that some have already installed (including myself) and they work great . They are pretty much Plug and Play (no cutting required) as Ojedam64 explains in his instructions. Took me all of 10 minutes to install on my F56.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ry-lights.html

Here is the link to Ebay where I got mine from.

am i going crazy, or do those look like they require stripped the wire and cutting off the end of the connector for them to work?

Additionally, in the other thread (thank you MotorMayhem)... found this:

http://mini.sewellparts.com/accessor...2011/6960.html

Does anyone know if these lens inserts would work on an F56? Much cheaper option than buying all new lights if these work.

I just ordered mine for my R56 that shine a colored JCW logo onto the ground (not the Mini in the circle) from Way Motorworks for $36 shipped for the pair. I wonder if he has yours too.

We have found a method of using our puddle lamps on the F56.

as stated, I posted a thread about this, they are ordered from china so they take a little time to receive but do not require any wire splicing or cutting what so ever. quick and easy to install. I dont' remember what I paid for them but it was pretty cheap.

I've had them installed for 5000 miles now...no issues I love them.

F56 owners - beware!!

I bought a set of lights off of eBay which I finally received today (shipped from, yes, China), and even though the auction listing had the 2014 Mini listed as a supported model, they are not compatible. I was surprised because many sites where I found the lights online listed them as compatible with the R56 and other models back to 2007. But, apparently Mini has changed the connector on the F56: the lights have a narrow 2-pin female slot, but the F56 door connector has a wider 4-pin connector (even though there are only 2 wires feeding the connector). These were the 'plug-and-play' light fixtures, not the kind that involve sawing/drilling/wiring (and no pins or leads to "go in the back side of the stock plug"). The dimensions of the light fixture are correct, but the connector does not fit.

Very bummed...I've contacted the seller to see if they perhaps sent the wrong set of lights. Brandon from Sewell - If you have a method for getting these to work, please post some suggestions.

so just to confirm...they physically fit in the slot but the connector does not match with the F56. if that is the case, then yes, there is a resolution. using a pick, you can pop out the connector and slip on the older 2-pin connector.

http://mini.sewellparts.com/oem-cata...-R57-2010.html

part no. 61136925634 - $1.61

btw, when did you order yours that it finally arrived today? 2 week turn around?

Thanks for that suggestion. Earlier, I had tried to gently split the light from the housing (seemed to be 2 halves), but there appeared to be some sort of circuit board with soldering at the junction, so I didn't try to take it further.

But no worries.....I just went outside and found that the lights do fit my wife's 2014 Clubman (which has the 2-pin connector). Aside from the fact that there is no slack at all on the wire leads, the installation was easy. She's asleep on the couch and doesn't know I installed the lights on her car, but the lights look pretty cool so I'm hoping she'll love 'em (and save me the cost and hassle of having to try and return them).

Sorry I missed the question....I placed the order 7/26 on eBay, package left via China post on 7/28, arrived in U.S. on 8/2, and was delivered today (8/7). So, about a week and a half.

For whomever wants to try, I think they would actually have to order the corresponding part off of the F56 part diagram for the light (which would have the 4-pin connector), and then try to pry out the "Mini" LED lamp and guts and transfer it over.

If they use the R57 part suggested by Sewell, I think that would put them in the same boat, transferring the light & guts from a 2-pin housing into another 2-pin housing.

Dannno,

The "Ebay" lights work great on the F56. I've had them installed for a month now. Take a look at the instructions on https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ry-lights.html . The 2 male connectors on the new lights push into the BACK of the 4 pin connector coming out of the MINI. Look at the photo from the post make at 05-20-2014, 02:18 PM. It took me a minute to figure that one out myself. Just push the pin with the red wire into the back of the plug where the MINI has its red wire. Do the same for the black. They work great. :-)

Marco is correct.

Anyone who would like to replace their connector body will need part number 61136925634.

http://mini.sewellparts.com/oem-cata...R56S-2010.html

This will work on the puddle lamps that have the R56 style plug-in connector.

It is a very easy swap- release the terminals from your old connector body and then press them into the new connector body. Plug-in the puddle lamp and enjoy.

-Thanks!

I got the JCW lights and they look great, wider display than the round Mini one. Very sharp focus I can see it in broad daylight. WayMotorworks, $36 shipped.

Talasyn - I did read your other post (that's the reference I made about "leads to 'go in the back side of the stock plug'"). Since I bought the plug-and-play model (i.e. no lead wires), I guess I could have bought some Dupont jumper wires and patched it in like you had done. But, I'm happy letting my wife own this mod....I thought about the JCW lights and trying to use the wiring work-around (TheBigNewt - I'm guessing you had to do this with yours??), esp. since I have the JCW Interior. But, I'm working on some other lighting mods to keep me busy at the moment.
