Mini on TV next Wednesday

Not sure if the woman in this episode deserved to have a 72 Mini. She blew the engine up by not changing the oil and obviously did not take care of the car. Throw money at the answer and the crew wedged a Honda Civic engine under the bonnet. Power to weight ratio was tremendous but lost the soul of the Mini along the way.

the "experts" kept calling it a Cooper ....
no Cooper model in 72 ... the even showed the badge that said it was a Saloon 850 ,,, the real Cooper and S 61 thru 71 ....
also said all were ALL right hand drive ..... wrong .....
implied the VTEC swap was something they dreamed up ... as we know it is a kit available from multiple sources ... been around for many years

implied
most other shows like this will give credit to the source of the 'custom built subframe' they used
just my opinion as a long time classic owner ...
with that kind of HP vs weight and what the owner said she planned to do with the car (kill herself!) they would have been wize to put in a roll cage while they had it apart!
also readily available

Cheaply made reality TV shows are not known for in depth research. They couldn't possibly afford to hire experts or people to spend hours acquiring the knowledge to satisfy the .0001% of people who might catch the flubs.
Every time I consider a Classic car of small size I consider if I want to be smashed to death by an inattentive texter. If I go classic, probably be some 20 foot Caddy.
