i want to change my WRX 02, for a 2006 mini cooper (non s)
Well i have a dilema :(, my friend is buying my stage 3 wrx bugeye, so i was looking for other cars that i might like, well mini cooper is one of them (350z and rx-8 are the other options).
First, i live in Honduras, so my english is not the best :(, well i find a mini cooper non-s for sale at a price range i can afford it, but i was reading almost all these forum info and some oppinions of some dudes on Nasioc, now i really dont know if this car is reliable :(, i plan to have this car for about 2 years thats 20k miles in Honduras (everything is close), my wrx have 220k miles!!! thats the reason i want to buy another car!
BTW, love this forum!

Welcome to NAM, manitox. I think you will find on this forum a number of opinions, especially relating to the non-turbocharged and non-supercharged models. They seem to be the most reliable. They certainly aren't inexpensive to repair since they are owned by BMW, but I know Nissans and Mazdas can be expensive, too.

I have an R53 so also can't comment on the NA cars, but I did come from an '03 WRX myself... so far the Mini has been less reliable (clutch, clutch master cylinder, a wheel hub failure, all under 80k miles), and also more expensive to fix when things go wrong.
It's also been a little more difficult to work on (need some uncommon tools like torx bits to change rotors (and even the JCW air filter), a special tool to rotate rear calipers while compressing to install new pads, even the oddball large oil filter socket). I still love the Mini but I have to acknowledge it's been more expensive to upkeep, just be prepared for that possibility.
Also I've heard horrible things about the automatics so would go manual.

Nice, '06 is same as me... general consensus is that's the best / most trouble free of the supercharged mini's - I still would say to budget more for maintenance and repairs than you would on the subaru.
