Which recommended maintenance is crucial?
Which recommended maintenance is crucial?
Hi all! I apologize if this isn't the right forum for this question, but I figured it was pretty general in nature so I was in the right place
.
I am wondering which of the recommended maintenance suggested by my dealer is actually crucial for me to do. I get my oil changed every 7500 miles, but that's about it as far as regular maintenance goes for me. I see on the dealer website there is a 66,000 mile list of services that includes:
-brake fluid
-coolant flush
-engine oil
-front brakes
-intake silencer
-microfilter
-rear brakes
-roadworthiness test
-spark plugs
-vehicle check
Do I need to get all of these done to my car as often as the dealer suggests? My car is an automatic 2011 MINI Clubman S with around 61000 miles on it that I have owned for 2 years (since around 32000 miles).
As far as I know it has never had any of these services done besides the engine oil every 7500 miles or so. I have asked the dealer multiple times about the brakes, but according to them I am still good.
Thanks in advance for any wisdom!

I take my wifes 2012 in only for warranty work.
With about 53k on her's,I have done the following....
Change the oil about every 5K
Changed the cabin filter twice
Changed the plugs at 50K
Replaced the rear brakes when the warning appeared
Changed the brake fluid at about 3 years
Changed the coolant at 53k
I don't know anything about the intake silencer, maybe someone will chime in.

All the items on your list can be labeled as "crucial" when the time comes to replace them. If you've kept up on your oil changes and the brakes are sound, and if I were to prioritize which service you should address next, it would be the coolant flush and spark plugs, both of which you can easily perform yourself with the DIYs available on this forum...
Oil change, Brakes if they are worn down very low, but sounds like your are ok. Like all people said the crucial part is that you have all your MINI service up to date. Also comes down to time and if you can DIY, dont hold off too long as you might not have time and never get them done.

intake silencer = air filter or intake muffler is what the pasts diagrams call it.
