Hey all, so I've got an '04 RSX(140k miles) and it's really starting to cost me more than it's worth in repairs(even in doing them myself), and I seem to be working on it every month at this point(this month it's motor mounts!), never mind the fact that I'm really looking to change things up and 2 doors is difficult for future baby-making. I'm looking to get a newer car and I'm obviously looking at the MINIs. I've read some pretty bad things about reliability in older models(water pump, timing chain, etc...)including recalls and class-action lawsuits, but I haven't really seen much info on the newer models(2014+), and can't find an updated buyer's guide that elaborates passed aesthetics and into technical issues. I want a 4-door automatic, and I've been eyeing the Cooper S and Countryman S.

So, I'm wondering about reliability/expected reliability in these newer models. I see they've switched to BMW engines recently, and apparently a completely new body for the 2014+ models, so how have these been holding up?

I frequent clubrsx.com currently where there are plenty of DIYs and member help when problems arise. I work on my car whenever feasible to save on mechanic costs, and I enjoy it. Are MINIs fairly simple to work on? Is there enough practical engine bay room? Are parts easy to find? Is there a good mechanic's manual?

I see there are a lot of posts on this website, so I assume there's a large enough following to find DIYs or get help from enthusiasts when needed...
