New Car Issues - Advise

I just purchased a new 2015 2dr Hardtop. This car is stinking up my house. When the dealer was detailing at purchase, there was some condensation in the speedometer/tachometer. Car only had 9 miles on it but had been sitting on lot for 6 months. I was told the heat from sitting on lot caused it. I was to bring car back and they would take instruments apart and clean. I have yet to do this but my garage smells like mold. I've looked everywhere for wet areas, but nothing. Any ideas? Love the car. Such an upgrade over our 2013 model.

Take it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it or buy it back for the exact $ you paid for it. Mold is not acceptable--and it can be hazardous to your health!!

Moisture in the electronics? Was it a lot? Did you get a picture of it?

What's the build date on your car? Check the sticker in the drivers side door frame.

Build Date is 11/14.
I don't see any mold, just smell it.
I don't see any TSB # on this car.

When the car was being cleaned, there was moisture behind the speedometer and tachometer glass. I was told to bring the car back at later date when service department would take it apart and clean the inside of the glass.

I guess it could be the evaporator. I have no idea about the cabin filter. I would have to figure out how to take a look at it. Car has just been sitting on lot for 6 months. Would that bother the cabin filter? Car had 9 miles on it when I drove off lot.

I guess I'll just take it in. It's 150 miles from my home. I guess I should have ordered a 2016. Saving $3000 probably not worth it now.

Check under the floor mats for wet carpets.

If you find the carpets wet or damp. Bring car back and hand them the keys and say thank you I'll take another one.

Water will run down thru the vents below the windshield. If there are no leaks, the water will drain outside of the car.

Now if there is a leak in the ducting,It may be possible for the water to get into the cabin via the air ducts and into the cabin filter.

I think that if the cabin filter had mold/mildew on it, it would smell really bad with the AC/air vents on.

You could test for leaks by pouring water onto the windshield.

When you take it in, give them the Campaign Number. Not sure what a campaign number is or means, but it has been on the paperwork for a few folks with this issue. Maybe it's the precursor to a TSB?

Diminishing car value after accident

Any advise is appreciated after my wife was in a car accident this past weekend. The other party has assumed liability for repairs and damages. Living in NC the insurance company does not have to pay for diminishing value. Any comments on dealing with the insurance company is appreciated. My car has less then 4000 miles on it and is a 4 door hardtop.

After 2 weeks at Mini dealer. Bulletin 64 02 14 was done. Told incorrect FIN GAP in evaporator allowing moisture to collect and bacteria to form. The Heater box was replaced and the automatic air conditioning evaporator was replaced.

The moisture in the speedometer and tach could not be repaired and the entire instrument cluster was replaced.

Still stinking up my garage. I'll give it some time but I think mold is in all the vents, ect. They used clorox to clean some areas.

Is it me or does this seem a little too much for a new $30K car?

Appreciate everyone's input.

Depending on your state laws, you might qualify for a manufacturer buy back if you take it in multiple times for the same problem (lemon law). Reading what you've been thru, I'm not sure I would want the car..

Call MINI USA customer service. They won't help, but it does get documented.

It's pretty obvious that the car got water in it while it was sitting on the lot. Just another reason I will never buy off the lot... Keep taking it back and demand they replace the car? Get a lawyer. Dealers understand lawyers...

See this thread about the a/c system. Sounds like yours had much more moisture.
