Hi All, Just purchased a 2008 mini cooper, had it for a few days now, got aboard this morning and the drivers door won't close! Tried it a few times with no luck, but it does close from the outside?? Go figure, any ideas? Thanks

 

Shot in the dark: Any chance your seat belt is the cause?

 

You mean like jammed in the door? No, no apparent obstructions that I could see anyway..

 

Did you check the door lock in the jam, it is suppose to open when triggered all the way. Then when you close it latches shut. Might be jammed ( spray it ) or broken, which is you need replaced.

#1 in the diagram.




Do you have an 2008 MINI Convertible ( Gen 1 ) or a 2008 R56 Hardtop ( Gen 2) ( newer body style ) ?

Thx it's a hard top.

 

You are welcome. Then Follow the R56 part above and inspect the lock #1.

 

Doesn't appear to be anything broken, it shuts fine from the outside but not when your sitting in it??

 

Could be still the lock or the cable. The cables and snap or stretch. The lock can break on the inside where the cable pulls the actuator. This cable connects from the inside handle to the lock. When pulled moves the door lock and then opens. is the handle/ cable is fine. then its the lock itself.

Did some reading on the forum, reset the windows and now the door shuts fine.. who knew!! Thx all..
