brightness

Is there any way of increasing the daytime brightness of the information display in the tach. Hard to read.

Not really, the brightness during daytime ( ie exterior lights 'off') is controlled by the light sensor on the tach. Its the black dot beyond the red line, next to the trip 0.0 button. Try to play with it with a torch and the orange light in the centre stack will light up like a christmas tree

That works fine for the instrument background display with the lights on but does nothing for the daylight lights OFF LED display
