SOOT or NO SOOT?

I just thought it might be interesting to see how many MINI owners completely polish their tail pipe, inside and out, of soot verse those who clean only the outside and leave the inside all natural.

Clean inside and out every week. Just part of the routine.

My first-gen R53 produces plenty of soot, so I got sick of it after many years, and painted the tips black, and now it doesn't bother me anymore!

(But then again, black is my car's accent color; the wheels, roof, mirrors are black).

I don't obsess about it.

I do clean them but not every week. Spray a little WD40 on a rag or paper towel and they look like new.

I mostly use Griot's products and when I wash the car I don't wash under the hood every time. Time limited, so I vary what gets cleaned. I do keep the inside immaculate.

2013 S Coupe.

I keep the inside of the car clean, but not the inside of the tail pipes.

I wouldnt put it any further up stream but for the tips its been perfect. I havent even had to touch it up at all. It blends the tips in nicely with the black trim on the bottom of the bumper.
