Clubman Driver Window

I'll try this here, I had posted under Clubman & no one read it~

Hello: I found this old thread to have my exact problem. Driver window works fine, just won't stop at the top, goes back half way down. I've tried the initialization a few times, but makes little sense because they say "put the window to the top and hold the switch 10 more seconds" - but by then the window is half way down.
Does anyone know what's wrong, from reading this whole thread it sounds like the fix is the miscellaneous guess method. I have no interest in taking it to the dealer, I worked at two of them back in the '70s, and although I got out of that business years ago, I still do my own repairs. This is our first Mini, we've only had it a month, and I'd really like to know what's wrong before I start to fix it. Can someone tell me how the motor know when to stop, or the design of the system in general. Or better yet, exactly how to fix this issue - I have used the search, but maybe using the wrong terms, I'm a little "old" for this modern communication via computer~
Thank You in Advance Rod

Providing the year of your Clubman might help. It sounds like you have a software issue and the only solution might be to take it in to a dealer or an indy that can get into the ECU.

I've had the same problem with both driver and passenger front windows in my R60S. When I get home I can look up the documentation for the service they performed.

I have this same problem on my 2008 clubman S . With the window all the way down hold the switch up till the window gets approx 3-4 inches from the top and let go of the switch. The window stays in this position, then hold the switch up until the window reaches the top position then release the switch. This keeps the window closed. This has worked for me for a couple of months now.

Unfortunately we also had this problem on our 2008 Clubman and the initialization procedures never fixed it. Similar issues to your problem (window wouldn't crack when door was opened, sometimes window would hit the top and start to roll back down, etc.) and the only fix was to have the dealer redo the software for the door.

So being a chronic issue within the software & only repairable at the dealer, is it warranty? Or is it a trick way for income at the service department?

It was covered under our extended warranty, but even if it isn't, you're talking only one hour labor, which at the dealer here is $85

As I mentioned, I don't have a Clubman, but this is from my service order document...

"Customer states passenger side window will not go up all the way. Will stop and go back down. The window motor and seal were faulty and causing the window to malfunction. Per 51 11 12 checked operation and verified the complaint. Linked to ISID and performed a consort test. Battery voltage was 12.23V, connected charger. Found no faults stored for the power windows. Performed window motor initialization test plan and was unable to initialize. Per 51 11 12 replaced the window motor and seal with updated parts. The vehicle already has the most current software level. Reinitialized the power window motor and checked operation. The power windows are working properly at this time"

Take it for what it's worth, not sure if its the same issue. I've had to do both the front driver and passenger windows. Both under warranty thankfully.

Good luck!
