Stuff strangers say about your mini...

Was at the Laundromat the other day.. a stranger with a strong foreign accent comes up to me and says:

"How you like that MINI?"

I let him know I love it.

To that he responds, "I used to have one a long time ago. It was sh*t. All cars were back then were sh*t though. Looks like they make them different now."

LOL. People are usually surprised by the size of the sunroof and always ask "hey, does the rear one open!?"

I also get: "where's the window switches in this car!?"

And its quiet funny/strange to see non MINI folk trying to get out the car, they always struggle to find the door handle for some reason

I always get " What a cute car" I used to always respond with, " Its fast too!" Since that pretty much gets ignored, I just say, "Thanks. " If people don’t know, you can't tell em.

I get that a lot with my mini pickup. If they ask it that way I just say a pickup, haven't you ever seen a pickup before?

I've owned my mini for three years and never got a disparaging comment. Matter of fact, I'm surprised as to just how many people know exactly what a mini is!

A toothless guy on a bike told me "that's one beautiful car!" We chatted for a while....Another fella in skinny jeans said it was "bad azzz" and wondered if the wheels came stock (18" cross spoke black over JCW brakes drilled and slotted rotors....). I smiled and said "nope"...

I get a lot of people that pull the door latch the first time and say "the door is broken I can't get out." Haven't had one person try pulling twice on their own. I disappointed my friend with a newer corvette. We asked a female friend who she would go to dinner with on car alone and she picked my mini...girls love the Mini Cooper

As I was getting a parking permit for my r56 the person asked me whats the make and i told her MINI, she replied whats a mini? Whats the model/ make? And again im like MINI cooper its a MINI. I had to gointo into the history of the car and mention its part of BMW but ensure that the make is MINI. ... I dont think she took my car seriously :D

They are usually surprised the MPG is so low. I guess they were expecting to hear 100 mpg lol. I always reply, well know know, you can have horsepower or gas milage and I have OVER 100 HORSEPOWER.

+1

I'm not *that* big (6'0, 225), but I get that a lot, too. Most are surprised at the front seat room, and that you can get them so "nice" inside if you want.

When I was up in New York doing work for FEMA after hurricane Sandy a couple of people asked if I actually drove "that" from Florida. As I was told long ago, argueing with an idiot makes you look like one, so I just said no I walked up.
