How possible is it to sleep in these cars?

I'm planning out my trip across the country and I'm debating pulling my passenger seat out and fashioning some type of box/platform to sleep on. I also have to go hop in the car and see if it's even possible for a 6' tall guy to sleep in if the seat were not there. Anyone ever do something similar in the standard hatchback size mini?

When you pullthe set, and turn on the battery, you will set an airbag light...needing a dealer trip and some $$$ to reset it. Most charge 75$-125$, so a couple nights in a cheap motel (and a shower) might be cheaper.

Might be fun. Can't imagine that there is not someway to deal with the airbag light.
An enclosed space as small as a mini is going to get steamy - so you are going to need climate where you can crack open the roof or windows. It is probably a personal thing - individual to individual. Some folks [like me] can sleep anywhere - others need their special this or that and are probably better off in a motel with their teddybears.

Agree with Dave.O

And, you won't believe how cold you'll get.

Not to mention how much your long your journey will seem and how your experience will deteriorate as you chaulk up the miles. A good night's sleep and a hot morning shower is unbelievable.

Meh sleeping bag, iso mat, and a nice camp ground would be cheaper.

Tried sleeping more than once in my R56. NOT something I'd want to plan on doing, believe me.

Just traded for a new Clubman though, may try a nite's camping in it come decent weather next year. Taking tent+spleeping bag+air mattress+camp (solar) shower's the preferred alternative but the shower thing's not too good unless the sun's shined on it for at least a few hours....

Technically not sleeping in, but more with it but I carry a hammock when I hit the road for work. I'll use my mini as one attachment point and a light pole or tree or something for the other. Easier than finding two things close to each other. It's nicer than some hotels I get put up in on the road.

I've napped in my MCS a few times and it's not too uncomfortable. I just slid and tilted the seat all the way back. I'm 5'9 and drive an R53, for reference.

I've also napped in mine, did what Pure87 did, wasn't too bad ..with the sunroof open, gazing at some stars & having a cool evening breeze blowing in.. Then dozing off..

my advice. get a good strong rack. and get a roof top tent. a hard one like the magnolia. It is in a case that looks like a roof cargo holder. But you can leave your pillow and sheets and a down comforter in it. You will sleep in luxury every night. Or get a trailer hitch and get yourself a small teardrop trailer. It will have your kitchen kit, small bedroom area that is secured and you can rig up a small tv in there. That is what I would do. I have a roof top tent mounted on a trailer and it is really warm and so comfy. but it is set up for off road and not suited for my mini. But it would bolt to my factory rack
